probably because candlebright on tisl stink. nomad is the mac dad. without lindseys harmonies that song goes no where. same goes for sorcerer.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I never heard any Stevie demos before I heard TISL so I got used to the album versions. Lucky for me because if I had been familiar with all the demos and loved them and then heard the TISL verisons I may have been disappointed.
I'm not hearing the fingers on the chalkboard analogy though...Isn't that high pitched and squeaky?

It's the way that her voice was processed, it's unbearable at times. On SYW, it sounded like Stevie Nicks in all of her nasal glory; her vocals were warm for the most part (even in ridiculously overproduced tracks) and they pulled you in. On TISL, she sounds almost alien. They put her voice through their fancy softwares and machines, and she came out sounding metallized and cold.

exactly.

there was just nothing there. no draw there at all. very hard and cold.

tisl was just a major upset. then u have her airbrushed cover that makes her look like she is 90 lbs. i don't think so.

I really disagree. Her vocals at the starts of Destiny Rules and Everybody Finds Out are flat as a pancake.
In my opinion, Planets has Stevie's weakest vocal on TISL, and it's not a bad vocal, just not nearly as passionate as those in the demos.

I'm not a fan of Stevie/Sheryl harmonies at all I just happen to love the music and lyrics to the songs. The only problem with them is that Sheryl is on there IMO.

her voice is a major one.

That's just the thing; they were flat, monotonal, energetic, soft, strained, passionate, and full of emotion on Say You Will. It ran the gamut and they didn't filter and process her voice to the point where she sounded cold and alien like on TISL. Whether anyone likes the SYW vocals or not, there can be no denying that they were her most passionate and moving vocals in years. TISL, on the other hand, makes me think 'Who give a ****, really? It doesn't even sound like she does.'

I deny it. From the last ten years, I'd put up Somebody Stand By Me, At Last, Touched By An Angel, If You Ever Did Believe, Trouble In Shangr-La, I Miss You, It's Only Love, and TFFT to be as emotional as anything on SYW, excepting RTTG and parts of EFO.

I agree in regards to Somebody Stand By Me, Trouble In Shangri-La, It's Only Love, and Touched By Angel, but you can keep the rest. Don't even get me started on At Last. Oy vey.

Hey, if ya don't like it, ya don't like it. I'm not thrilled with most of her songs on Say You Will because of her vocals. I think they're terrible. I actually prefer Lindsey's songs to Stevie's, which is a first, but I guess I'm getting off the subject, hun?

I agree with that! The demo is fantastic. It's really the opening line of the TISL candlebright that gets me. "you KNOOOOOW me" that know is just painful.
