It's all so amateurish. It doesn't take that long. I have a buddy who designs stuff like this on small scales and grand. He has gotten projects like special edition cd boxes on the scale of the Enchanted box and pulled them together in less than a week. Designed in three days -fed ex'd, approved, off to the printer, ready for the store in three weeks or less.
It's not like this tour is some big assed surprise. And it isn't as if the people involved don't have access to original artwork, record company publicity photos, privates archives, ad nauseam. The ultimate answer may be that it just isn't that lucrative to do it.....but I doubt even that, as they have been doing this for YEARS. They have longstanding relationships with printers. They could pull favors and get price breaks. And they could charge a fortune for garbage - they know that too. Look no further than the TISL tour book.
I submit it is laziness, lack of ambition, and stupidity.

And let me just say that we in the printing industry appreciate having to have everything done the next day after the designer(s) and whoever needs to approve the designs have sat on it for weeks

Default Hmmm..

I don't understand why the tour books can not be printed after the first rehearsal.....it doesn't make sense.

The entire book should have be planned out and ready to go even before the tour starts, once the "live" pictures are added it should have been ready to go.

It is easy to point fingers at Chris because merchandise IS his department. But I am not sure who to blame for this delay. Stevie HAS to be aware year after year that the tour books are not ready until the tour is half over. You would think she would say something to her brother. Or is she the one holding it up? When she wants something, she gets it. It seems La Nicks just doesn't care whether or not the books are ready.

That's what rush charges are for.

My point is, there is no excuse for them not being done. It's possible to get things done quickly.
