Seriously, no sane, respectable person would dare babysit for us girls.... That's where good ol' grandpop comes in.... we truly did our worst to him too This includes letting us give him a makeover, lipstick and all.... I bet he really appreciated the neighbors telling him how "pretty" he looked

Hmm for me that was a tough choice between Beauty And The Beast, Gold And Braid, and Gate And Garden. I chose Gate And Garden. It's a beautiful song, even if I'm not exactly sure about what the hell she's talking about.

Violet and Blue. Love the "with a touch of your hand, it starts again...waaaaaaah, yeah!" line so much. I always wonder exactly where she was touched with that hand

Continuing the theme of being weird kids, I was an obsessive Kate Bush fan as a kid. i would watch her greatest hits video all the time, and I can still enact the entire "Wuthering Heights" dance routine given enough floorspace Everyone thought I was nuts.

My mother hated FM so Stevie was not a part of my childhood, but I am sure that if I had seen her on tv as a kid I'd have been grabbing the nearest tablecloth and twirling about. Hell, that happens now sometimes and I'm 22!

I chose "Gold and Braid," because it is just sooo damn caughty! After this tour though, "Beauty and the Beast" has become a very close second. Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[golden braid]

I chose Violet and Blue cause it rocks! I would love to hear it in concert. I also really like the HBO version of Gold and Braid but the demo versions don't really do much for me.

If I ever have a little girl my closet will be open season for her. My Mom didn't have anything like that but I so wanted to be that gypsy in the video too. I could not act that out in my house though, everyone was far too critical so all of my acting out and such was in my head or behind closed doors in my room. Here's to being a strange little girl!

okay, so I don't know the words there....but still....it kicks ass.

I love it. I love it! Stevie needs no words!
May I also add...."INADREAMISAIDTOYOUIWELLALWAAAAYSLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEYOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I used to sing it this way, but I was 10:

"Don't hide behind your hair. Use a little gold and braid. Easy volunteer. You see a pathway. And you slip a doorway. You can slip behind a doorway. When there's old age. All these years."

It was the usual, "Great rock song. Great artist..." stuff. I rented the DVD years ago, so can't remember exactly. I think there's also a tiny bit about how she came to contribute the song to the movie, but it's something about who knew who and which of those who's contacted Stevie's manager. (did that even make sense??? )

Back during the RAL days, I heard a rumour that Stevie was actually supposed to be *in* the movie, performing the song on stage. But she was too ... well, we all know how Stevie was in the early '80s. And that had something to do with why the alt version of the song was used in the movie. But, just a rumour. Who knows?

Gold & Braid is kicking butt in the poll.

It was very hard to choose...but ultimately, I had to go with Leather and Lace. That's one of my favorite songs ever.
