I do online trading ...when I get something I think other people would like I torrent it. *NO MP3s* Didn't know that made me lazy and I didn't know I have a small collection.

Jeremy, at what point during this thread did you read me saying anything of that nature?? maybe you need glasses...

i was refering to an AUD recording via trade and an AUD recording via torrents... no one, not even you oh Diva-remix-master, can tell the difference in sound quality of those two sources..

Precisely. People who download shows also upload shows and share them, just like they seed and share what they download.

you refered to torrents as a "blessing".. i wouldnt go that far..

and anyway, i was not refering to you specifically... i was refering to other people who would truly consider it a "blessing"..

Brian, its a nice thing...torrenting...you do it to share with people...I dont ask for anything in return ...I dont think anyone does... and the quality of the torrent is the quality of the cd it is on pretty much but a lot of the torrents posted are upgrades for the older versions of them out in circulation. Some may have been personally recorded from like 1977... stuff no one has ever heard before (Tampa 03)...So go ahead and ramble on.

Actually, that would only happen by downloading MP3s, or receiving them on disc from a trader, not from lossless WAV files found in in the torrent circles.
There is a seriously huge difference. I trade and I download torrents, and I've found there is a lot of amazing lossless Mac, Stevie, and other artist stuff out there on torrent sites. Just an honest observation.

Lets say i trade something with you for a show you have on cd that you got from someone who got it from someone who got it from someone etc.... i send you my part of the trade and i get yours and i notice that there is a torrent of it on dimeadozen. I get pissed because its the upgraded version. ....see? The upgraded version was posted by the person who bought it from a local radio station or record shop in a bin some where...pure source

The quality, as long as it's not MP3, is the exact same quality as it would be on the CD it came from. It's the same as copying a CD/DVD for someone. As long as it's done at the right speeds, there is absolutely no loss in quality.

no Lisa.. you dont understand.. i'm refering to the quality issue of an identical recording on torrents vs one that can be obtained in trading.. same show, same quality...

What do you think, that you have to sit in front of your computer for hours in order to upload shows and seed shows you've downloaded? A couple of little clicks of the mouse is all it takes.

Again, it depends on the source. Say someone gets a copy from someone who has the master recording, then trades it to someone but burns it at a high speed and the CD is copied with diginoise and errors. That CD will then be traded and circulated to others who will then trade it and copy it once again. With torrents, the guy with the master could upload it and effectively get rid of all the sub-par copies by doing so.
