just a few random thoughts

I was just looking at my pictures of when I met Mick, Lindsey, and Peter Green over the years, and I just wanted to offer some advice to anyone looking to do the same. I think the most important thing is to have an attitude that they're people just like you, in other words, don't get all geeked up, just expect a few minutes of their time, and be civil. That way, the experience will be good for both youself and the artist.

Also, I realize that I'm sort of new here, and maybe some of my posts have annoyed some people if they were too harsh. I'll try to work on that. Take good care everyone. David

Where did that come from? Since the band members aren't easily accessible that advice is sort of moot. Not only that, but I would imagine that 99.9% of us wouldn't act like d*cks if we met Lindsey or any other band member for that matter. I was very grateful to get to meet John McVie, and we talked about IPODs and iMacs...and my tattoos among all things. He was gracious enough to take a photo with me (it was fate that my girlfriend by chance had a camera in her purse). I would imagine the band is used to these sorts of encounters.

That's true. I was just trying to give advice to anyone who maybe has not met any of the band what worked for me I gues. Oh well

My only advice is, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT give Peter Green a compliment, no matter how small. Unless you're a sadistic bastard who likes being told off by one of your heroes. Best damn night of my life

LOL this made me chuckle. what did he say to you??

When I met Peter (at a club in NY, I think it was 97?? can't even remember..) I said how wonderful it was to hear him playing again, and that i hoped he was happy. he was silent but sort of gave me a look and then a small nod; i wasn't sure if he was happy or pissed off LOL.

I just thanked him for introducing me to the blues. I told him that "Fleetwood Mac In Chicago" was the first blues album I ever got. Nigel gave me that "are you serious, that's REALLY odd" look, and Peter just said something like "look, I don't care if that was your first blues album." Again, best damn night of my life.

You know that's funny. I had a chance to meet him in 1998 when he played here in Minneapolis, and I just asked his assistant if it would be allright if I had a picture taken with him,and she was very nice. He came over I put my arm around his shoulder, she took the pic, and I said thank you to Peter. He was actually very nice, but I could tell he wasnt the chit chat type, I kept the small talk to a minimum

Odd that he let you put your arm around him...when I met him in 1999 after the PGSG gig in Ventura, he was fine, but when I met up with him again in 2001 after the gig at the House Of Blues outside Disneyland, he had this "thing" about shaking hands or being touched. Then again, maybe it was just ME!

Actually, that was his manager, Mich Reynolds. She is Nigel's sister AND she owns the rights to Peter Green's songs. She was married to the bands ex-manager, Cliff Davis, and she got the rights in the divorce.

I've never met anyone from FM, but when I saw Peter Green and Splinter Group in December 2003, we were standing maybe 5 feet away from him and I will never forget smiling at Peter during some song and he smiled back. It wasn't an insincere smile either, it was a very content "Thank you" sort of thing. I can't really explain it, but I'll never forget it, it was like....unspoken communication.
