Default sausalito

Hey I was thinking about going on a trip to san Franscisco later this year, and of course if I go, I AM GOING TO FIND the Record Plant I've heard that it's very hard to find. Is this true, and I've also heard that they do not like people coming to see anything inside. I'd appriciate some info about this. thanks. David

No studio I can think of (with the exception of Sun in Memphis, or the old RCA in Nashville) are open for public tours. They're there to make money, not give guided tours to drooling fans. Sun's tour is pretty cool though. I had the fried peanut butter and banana sandwich at the diner next door, ala da King. Hoooh, get offa me!

I live near San Francisco and I've never gone to see the Record Plant although I would really like to go. Maybe Amber and I should arrange some sort of field trip there.

Speaking of Sausailto, there's a street right near my house with that name. I'm determined to get that sign one day.

Right, I mean I would never turn down a drive to Sausalito, but I don't think there's really anything to see there, like Homie said. I mean, we could book studio time, but you better brush up on your guitar.....

Jessica and I went there last June - it's not that hard to find - I believe there's a map on their website, it's just off the main drag. There are benches in the parking lot, under the trees. We sat there for awhile to soak it all in....we didn't get past the reception area, but the woman at the front desk was very nice. We took pics of the outside and entrance.

If you go, you must also stop at the No Name Bar for a cocktail!

Yeah, I made my pilgrimage to the studio while in San Fran about five years ago. Livia's right, it's really not hard to find at all -- Sausalito's a tiny place, so you can't miss it. It's *very* 70s-looking from the outside.
I went inside to take a peek and all I remember is that it was very dark -- like all recording studios.

As soon as you step off the ferry boat, there is an art gallery. When we were there, they had a Grace Slick exhibit. She's very talented! We especially enjoyed the white rabbit/Alice paintings!

Yes, I went in 1998. I was at San Jose for a training, and ledgie BN picked me at my hotel. We went for a little tour that included the Record Plant, and took some pics. It was late afternoon so it was closed. But it was a cool ride. Yes. it's a bit hidden, behind trees, and I remember it was a lower level from the road.

Then BN showed me the school where Lindsey and Stevie met.
