I feel the EXACT same way. Get rid of that "You can't have him" **** and it would be pretty funky and fabulous. As is, it's just too cheesy and sounds like the kind of stuff you'd overhear on a playground at recess.

Whatever you old farts. Whether you like the production of the song or not, the lyrics are hot, IMO. "YOU can't love him YOU can't have him I do have him most of the time..." I love how they both get so into it...and I don't mind Lindsey's grunts either What the hell sort of elementary school were you enrolled in to hear stuff like this at recess?? Wish we had that

No, silly, I'm saying the lyrics "You can't have him, I do have him" etc, sound like the stuff little girls scream at each other at recess.

G'on!! Preach it!!
*I don't like the production that much, though. Tinny voiced Stevie? It was nice to hear it once, for novelty, now that we know what it sounds like, we can move on*
I still like it, though. I love the lyrics.

Hey! You wouldn't ask Bob Dylan that! He'd be like, "I talk how I want...it's the conversationalist that I am!"

Just as you've expressed that opinion repeatedly, I'll repeat myself too... ....I firmly believe the immaturity you see in those lyrics is intentional.
Stevie's not relating her observations of a healthy, mature relationship. She's commenting on a childish, territorial relationship, and she conveyed that perfectly, IMO, with the classic "back off, bitch, he's mine"-type line.

Which, if you're correct, wouldn't exactly fit into the popular belief that the song is about Monica and Bill. I saw no "back off, bitch" drama in that saga, I saw a woman who was happy to be boffing the prez, a man happy to get oral, and a wife who didn't give a rats ass.

I think it is just bad writing.

Agreed. It's not meant to be subtle as it is in so many of her other songs...it's meant to be rather in-your-face. After all, the song is titled EVERYBODY FINDS OUT I found it to be a rather interesting departure from the norm. You bitch when she stays in her mold yet you bitch when she breaks out...whatever shall Stevie do to keep you appeased, my friend?

Your assignment is to write for me something better, on the same topic (an immature, territorial relationship), and then we'll talk.
