Default What's your fave EO17 wail?

Hello to you all...

Just because it is Friday and I have nothing to do besides post on the threads all night, I thought I would storm up a topic to chat about...

I think my most favorite thing about stevie nicks, is the wailing in the middle of EO17. Which concert (in person at a concert or throug listening to a download) do you think is her best wail? What do you think is her worst?

Here are my top 5:
1. TISL - Camden, NJ (this is my personal fave)

2. RAL Tour - Live & Unapproved Show (Australia? I have another show from chicago that is the same thing...unless I have my downloads mixed up)

3. Bella Donna Tour - Tempe, AZ show (this is kinda creepy sounding, but its fun to listen to)

4. RAL Tour - Dallas, TX Show

5. Enchanted Tour - Radio City Music Hall (sounds kinda RAL-ish, I like it)

Worst 5:
1. Red Rocks (I like her other RAL wails better than this) This one sounds like she's dying.

2. Wild Heart - US Festival... RAL attempt turned sour with the weird growl and YEEAH YEEAH at the end

3. Wild Heart Tour - Radio City Music Hall (wtf is the oooooooowwblebleblebleyeah!) sounds like a rendition of porky pig imitating Stevie

4. HOB 1994 (blech, not a fave)

5. Storytellers (ok, but nah)

I seem to reference RAL a lot, but I don't care

I'm pretty bad about knowing live versions of "Edge," but I really dig the one from Bella Donna HBO show. She sort of growls it out, and she holds it forever, and then it gets all shamaness-y at the end. Not the most original pick, but there you have it. And some of the demo ones from the masters are incredible; she commits to that wail!

Anyway, like I said, I'm not sure I can comment on the rest. You are obviously pretty well-versed in your "Edge" versions! But I just wanted to toss my two cents in anyway.

Oh, and I love RAL, too. I think it's a masterpiece of the Eighties sound.

I always like them, they are the highlights of the songs for me. But I don't have that many boots or whatever. I guess my favorite is growl/moan/yells during the end of GDW, Japan. AAAAOAOAAOWOOWAOWOAOWOAWOWOAOOWOWAAAOWWWW etc.

Yeah sometimes when an old stevie show comes up for download, the first song I dl is EO17 because I wanna hear how she rocks out, then I determine whether or not to dl the rest of the show lol

And yes, secondly, I do try to get a lot of GDW songs cuz I like the growls on there too

What can I say, I like it when Stevie growls

From 1986 tour, L.A. (July 18), Madison Square Garden (August 5) & Jones Beach (June 8).

Yes Madison Square Garden is another good one...I actually like BATB better on that show than EO17 she belts out on that song

I think my favorite wail comes from the Under the Texas Sky boot from 1989. She holds it out longer than I've ever heard otherwise (but I don't own a lot of shows). Plus, I like when it's just a straight "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" instead of using an "OOH" sound or just some catterwalling (sp?) like on Red Rocks. That's also why I love the growl on Storytellers.

If I only had a concert from her Enchanted Tour here in Grand Rapids, her EO17 wail was SO awesome, I think she was just about screaming in it and it was really long...I distinctively remember what it sounds like. I can't put it into words

Hope she does it when she comes back on 6/24

I do not have a Atlanta, GA mp3 of that. If you do get a hold of it, you should send it to me and I'll have to post it on my website when the darned thing comes up

I did not know that the HBO show was dubbed...ok well I guess I can kinda tell...but it's pretty good. I have one from the bella donna tour in phoenix and that one is much better than HBO...and like I said, it's kinda creepy sounding in a way it's like a oooooooooAHAHAHAHAH its great... want me to email it if you don't have it? It's only 5.29mb
