Here is what he wrote about Lindsey.
Monday, 3.3.03 Not sure what I wrote to the contrary, but the internal weather is fairly sunny. Yesterday was one of the top 5 L.A. weather days ever as far as crystal clear sunshine goes. You can see every window on every house on every hill. Rare occurrence. Those days really fill me up. Friday night the work peeps and I went to see Fleetwood Mac. Pretty freakin rad, I must say. My only regret is that I didn't get a chance to meet anyone from the band. Like, not even Lindsay Buckingham. Oh yeah, maybe I did. I realized watching him that we have sorta similar playing styles, so that was really cool to hear blaring loud. The show was put on in a giant sound stage with full arena-sized sound and lights. And Miller sponsored it, so the cans of MGD, High Life & Lite were just flowing. Stevie was cool as all hell. If I didn't have a few great Moms already, I'd want her as well http://www.kristoffercarter.com/script/303.html

++200.......... I love you! Lindsey is sexy in my eyes and I am not a fan of the guitar masturbation intro to Stand Back. I find him to be sort of little boyish in many ways, (see DR doc) and his vulnerability is really charming. Plus, his eyes are amazing and when he plays over top of you whilst staring through you? Sheebus. I don't think he tries too hard at all, I just think he has more confidence onstage and it shows. Diss...Lindsey..geriatric? Cause of his gray hair? He has more energy than my ten year old!

I agree with you. I also think that he has a boyish quality maybe because he is the baby of the family. I don't know. I am an only child. His eyes are what makes him sexy IMHO! I mean look ![]() And remember those push-ups and sit-ups that he did in Madison? He is one fit fellow! ![]() |

well, we usually "settle" for the brown Turner, though at Soundstage, he did it to the Stones on, I think, an older white Strat ![]() |

Story of me waiting on a new Lindsey Buckingham solo album
The year was 1996 and I had just bought the Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers disc She's The One. To me, Lindsey's backing vocals on Walls were one component that made this song Tom's best in years. In the album booklet, it says that Lindsey Buckingham appears courtesy of Reprise Records. I took this as an indication that a new solo album was on the horizon. You all know how wrong I was, but more on that later. At the time, my mother was training in a computer course to keep up to date with current methods at a bureau pool facility that already had something new and then special: the internet. I went there a few times to surf online (being still in my teens, the boss allowed me to) and visited the website of Reprise Records, among others. First, it said the record was going to appear end of summer. When the end of summer had come, I was dissappointed that the record had been pushed back for 2 months. The year after, The Dance was released. At least something. When I was on holiday in Scotland in 98, I bought the soundtrack to Twister, which has the beautiful Lindsey and Stevie song Twisted on it with drums by Mick. Another glimpse of what's to come, and when my uncle got an internet connection the next year, the Reprise website listed Lindsey as a candidate for a new release for next year. Come 2000, they had taken his name off of that list. Duh. Since then, I don't believe news of a new Lindsey solo album release, until I've got it in my hands. It was great to hear the 1st song from Say You Will. What's the World Coming To and Steal Your Heart Away are the 2 best songs on that album for me, with Stevie's Destiny Rules close behind in 3rd position. Miranda is brilliant too. Then, I went looking for downloads of Gift Of Screws, with my own DSL. Apart from 2 songs that I still want in full CD quality, Down On Rodeo (can you hear me Annie?) and Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind (the horn section shines!), all of the other songs were somewhat unpleasant to listen to because they suffered severly from having been transferred through the internet so often (digital hiss!). But though I can't understand what he sings, there are great melodies. Now that Lindsey has taken so long with this, I highly doubt that his A&R man still takes him seriously, and is somehow not keen on working out a promotion model that Lindsey might blow up again by stopping the release. That's why the A&R guy probably tells him about how much more money and recognition he would get, if he transformed his material into an FM project. It's only logical for the label to do it this way: if he does not allow them to release material of which they believe it will sink in today's marketplace anyway, they do not need to drop him from their roster and this way they have an option for the next FM album, which will sell as big as the last one. |
