So, are there any Speilberg films you like? As a whole?

My Mom's fave movie is Jaws. It's just her thing. But she will not speak of the sequels.
Shoah is utter ****. Bless the soul of the individual that can watch it, because I certainly can't. It's simply bad filmmaking.

I like Empire of the Sun simply for Christian Bale, I like AI because his incompetence magically made a somewhat decent movie (albeit unintentionally), and I like parts of The Color Purple, even though he gave it a white man's touch that is entirely inexcusable and offensive.

I think Spielberg can be a wonderful director when he wants; even if sometimes he's manipulative, distracted by the message he wants the people to get, full part of a corporate way of thinking cinema, but great. He always runs for the balance between art and industry, not a sin, but boring though.

Jackson does his homework, Portman and Christensen together are poisoning to me. Separately she's very good, he's cute but has one face and one tone of voice, IMO.

it is bad filmmaking, but it's the content that counts. i've seen it twice, the whole thing twice. then again, i was writing a rather daunting paper for a semester on the Holocaust.

When they did the "Mystery Science Theater 3000 Summer Blockbuster Review" the summer when The Lost World came out, that was the big joke. They did a whole montage of what they said Spielberg did best--"scenes of people looking"

"Lost World" was a crummy movie. Was that the one with Vince Vaughn? I can't remeber, though Vince is always cute.

I think Jackson is one of the greatest living actors, even if he picks the absolute worst trash imaginable. I've loved Portman since I saw her in Leon, and Christensen sold me with Shattered Glass. He's very good, IMO.

Yeah, Vince Vaughn was in that one. I think it was the worst of the Jurassic Park movies, though the third was one was really bad to me, too.

Same here, even if I don't hate Christensen, I just turn off the volume when he speaks.

Hey, did you see that basketball movie about Richmond? I've wanted to see that, but I like sports movies.

Well, that's two out of three that are bad.

BTW, I love your new avatar. That's a great picture of her.

First off - can I just say...I? LOVE the Ledge

This thread - which for some reason I've been keeping up on (it's like the car accident you can't look away from) has gone all over the place...

Oh and I'm going to see Star Wars III one hour from now

I think Jackson is top-notch too, but you're right -- he does pick lousy roles for the most part.

Yeah, I liked the first Jurassic Park movie a lot, though. I remember going to see it with my whole family and everyone thought it was great. Of course I was eleven then.
