Well, the firing of Don Felder was a CRIME. From what I've researched, all over Don and Glenn not wanting to pay him his "partners" share of the money.

I've run out of sayings (for the moment).
My main thing is if you are friends with someone, you keep their confidences--not blab them to the press--and, from a business standpoint, if a large part of the audience you will be facing in this mini-tour will be Stevie fans--it stands to reason that a large part of that part will be FM fans, too, and a little...shall we say, sensitive to random FM doom speculation? Not to say Lindsey should have been snarking about the Eagles, but he didn't book a tour with them and in a pre-tour interview speculate on what their future would be.
I think two days before Philly, I'm going to lock myself in a room with some Don cds and remember that I DO like the singer and forget about all the nonsense that old testosterone battles can trigger;-)

Won't they be touring again in 2006? I am sure that they will need the money by then. IF Stevie does end up doing Vegas it would only be a few times a year so they could schedule a tour. Hey, I would not be surprised to see Fleetwood Mac end up as a Vegas act.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that a historic 40-week deal that would put MOTLEY CRUE into the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood showroom as resident headliners is being finalized, according to sources.

Clear Channel Entertainment and Planet Hollywood, the Aladdin's new owners, are planning an announcement later this year.

The comeback Crue, currently enjoying one of the most successful tours of 2005, would get a reported $10 million each, a madeover showroom and a role in Planet Hollywood's grand opening next summer.

Frontman Vince Neil, who is performing tonight (Tue May 17) at the Pussycat Dolls Lounge in Caesars Palace, has told friends that the new showroom will feature flying motorcycles and dancers on stripper water poles.

Vince Neil is a schmuck!!! I did sound for a show on a solo tour of his. He started three HOURS late. The crowd was chanting "Bull****, bull****" when he finally took the stage. He played four songs(and AMAZINGLY, won the pissed off crowd over), then he said, "Fu*k you rednecks, I'm outta here". His band stood there, throwing their arms up, indicating "not to blame them, but Vince". It was as near to a riot as I've ever witnessed. I was on a mic thru the PA trying to calm the crowd (because they were ready to demolish the place!). The State Police had to be called in, with dogs in tow. This was circa 1997ish. It was written up in Rolling Stone, in random notes. Brooke "panty" Shields was on the cover of RS. He was a COMPLETE ASS!

I happened to attend a celebrity soft ball game between the members of Motley Crue and Fleetwood Mac sans Lindsey and Stevie in early 1987 a few weeks prior to the release of TITN in Encino.(Christine did not play) and it was easy to distinguish between the Motley fans and the few FM fans that bothered to show up .Such an ill mannered group of skanky wenches that were doting over the no talent Motley Crue boys I hope to never witness again.

Don Henley has done more good over the last 20 years then all the great rock stars put together. Those of you who are familiar with the Walden Woods project (and Stormy Weather) know that Don Henley only deserves praise and good will. Unless of course, you are a Bush supporter.

Let's forget whatever drunken in-fighting and band rivalry existed in the 70's and move forward.

and can we all agree to not waste space in here on Motley Crue, for Chrissake?!

Actually, no. He deserves praise and good will for the great things he's done. That doesn't mean he should be immune from criticism. He's been a total prick in interviews this year, saying openly that he would cut short a tour with his "good friend" Stevie if the Eagles would go back in the studio, then following that up with a nasty shot at his bandmates. He has great politics but demonstrates little class when speaking through the media.

i don't see anything wrong or "prickesque" about being honest and saying he'd cut the tour short in order to resume Eagles stuff. Who wouldn't? Henley has always been "no bull****" and I find his direct communication refreshing.
What's the point of sugar-coating plans when it comes to music? This isn't brain surgery or family dysfunction, it's rock and roll and it's almost summer time!

The politics within the Eagles has always been up and down. Personally, I'm not interested in them without Don Felder, but that's just me. I think the reviews of the few shows they did recently echo my sentiments. But Don's a good guy and a brilliant songwriter. He never suffered the loss of credibility that Glen Frey did and he does productive work out there when he's not doing music. So, let's keep our fears of a FM break up in context and not not lash out unfairly at Don Henley. The dude was just having a conversation.
I don't think he ever made PR a priority - his music speaks enough for itself. Bruce Springsteen is the same way. Stevie Nicks could afford to have the same priorities.

Your point is valid; Henley has done a lot of good work through Walden Woods and other projects. But this hyperbole is just flat-out false. Don Henley is not rock & roll's all-time greatest philanthropist, and he certainly isn't as head-and-shoulders above everybody else as you seem to think.

Wow. I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on Don Henley's musical and songwriting merits, and I'll even ignore the comparison to Springsteen's songwriting. I don't think that's an argument that would be terribly fun or productive here.

But! As long as you bring up Springsteen, he's a guy who very clearly makes PR a priority. He's always very deliberate and diplomatic in interviews, and he would never say some of the off-the-cuff or even rude things that Henley has been known to say. (And I'm not saying this is a good or bad thing, just that I would put Henley and Springsteen in very different camps as far as PR is concerned.)

i would never put Henley and Springsteen in the same songwriting camp.
i was just trying to point out that from a PR standpoint, Bruce and Don have never been guarded with their beliefs and passions. They don't hide anything - especially their politics. Like Bruce said last year - "yes there's a chance of alienating long time fans - but let the chips fall where they will".
for me - it's nice when songwriters just put themselves out there and not try to hide politics for fear of losing out on sales.

I just saw Bruce do a solo acoustic show in a small theater and yes - you are correct - no comparison in the songwriting department with Henley. They are completey different kinds of writers. Bruce tends to be an artist all of the time. Don is an artist some of the time, but often he is just an entertainer.
