I also think it might have been uncomfortable for Mick to be there for that performance, which is why he distracted himself possibly. He had to know how much he hurt her. I always suspected Storms was about Mick, but whoa! She wrote the most beautiful songs about him. BATB and Storms are two of my absolute favorite songs ever and both can make me cry and often do! I'm going to watch the BATB video again now. ![]() |

In many of her songs there's a huge trend...the longing, the heartache, the relationship that could never work (mainly in part because if she made it work, she'd have nothing to write about when you think about it). Just my .02

I just do not get why the assumption is she is lying. I think she is doing nothing of the sort, despite your obvious glee at a potential Stevie slight I mean exactly how is her saying she wrote the song about the characters in the movie and then while writing thinking hey this is kind of going on in my life - and then writing with that personal emotion in ANY WAY to be contrued as a lie? Same with songs she says are about LB - Landslide being the perfect example. She said it was about: (1) her parents pressing her to leave the music business and; (2) LB. Well, it is consistent to say it could be about both. She could have been sitting there thinking LB has left me to go on tour with the Everely Brothers and I am stuck without a job and my parents are offering me financial freedom and we are not making it in the music business. Those seemingly are consistent thoughts Thus, I think it is incorrect to say she lied. |

But, I agree, she tends to take what others probably would consider to be a fling and make it sound like it was the love scene from "From Here to Eternity." |

Uhm, newsflash... Stevie's a drama queen. Even says as much about herself.
She's also a romantic. Artists use pain for inspiration, and Stevie romanticizes her broken relationships because it provides inspiration for her songs. I do believe "Beauty And The Beast" and "Storms" touch on some aspects of her relationship with Mick. I don't think he's the be-all and end-all behind them though. Certainly the former is mainly inspired by the film, but for a song to have been written with such conviction, it's obvious that Stevie related to it. And yes, I do think Stevie loved Mick. You can love many people over the course of a lifetime... that's really not a bad thing, nor something to be ashamed of... nor does it negate the impact of past relationships.

And, of course, there are many songs Stevie has specifcally said were about him... but quite a number which she hasn't. For some strange reason, people want to box her into only writing about him, when it comes to those songs too. But certainly Mick, and Don, and Joe Walsh, and Waddy, and God knows who else, are in those songs, too. In fact, I've often thought that aspects of many of those relationships are touched upon even in the course of one song. The one major pattern in Stevie's romantic life, is that she dated strong-willed men, had tempestuous relationships with them, and then the relationship ended. So by that criteria, even a song like "Silver Springs" could be attributed to her relationship with Don Henley, for example. I think people just feel it's more romantic if they're all about Lindsey.
