Falling Asleep during a concert!

At Friday's Stevie show, the 2 rows of people in front of me were standing, so of course, I stood up too. There was a deadbeat couple behind me who asked me to move over toward the aisle so they could see. I didn't mind, it just gave me more room anyway. The rest of my row, and the row in front of me was pretty empty. They barely clapped or cracked a smile during the entire show. I just don't get people like that.

The guy next to me at the Dallas TISL show fell asleep. Of course I was mortified so I tried my darndest to wake him up with little "accidental" arm nudges. I know it's mean but for some strange reason I felt insulted!

When I was around 10 or 11 years old, for some unknown reason (punishment maybe?) my folks forced me to go to this HORRID Merle Haggard (or maybe it was Marty Robbins?) concert. It was at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth, TX. Our seats were WAY up in the rafters. The show was EAR-SPLITTINGLY loud, yet somehow I managed to fall asleep thru most of the show. I don't know how I did it, unless maybe it was a survival mode reflex.

Yeah, I still have no idea how I did that, considering I was just a kid and not sleep-deprived or on drugs or anything. Those years came much later-and I STILL never fell asleep at a real concert! An idiot old friend of mine passed out wasted at a ROBERT PLANT concert in the late 80s. I still burn with rage at what a moronic thing to do that was!! Luckily I was in the 5th row and having the time of my life. I do no partying at all for certain special concerts (like SN or FM of course) just to make sure each and every brain cell is focused on remembering every detail of the show. My motto is: if it's an artist you don't like or know, JUST DON'T GO!

I can not believe people are defending this guy. I'm not saying he should serve prison time for falling asleep... I just am in awe that a person could take a nap at a rock concert! And even worse, he and his wife didn't clap they just looked at each other after each song like "should we leave now?" That bugged me! They should have been enjoying an early bird special and played bingo that evening and given their seats to actual music lovers.

My brother was a specialist in getting asleep at concerts when he was eleven-twelve years old (and I was about fourteen). He slept during all the Simple Minds, Boomtown Rats concerts and dozed off watching Paul McCartney's one too. How could he have been able to start to snore while all the rest of the amphitheatre was belting Hey Jude will always be a mystery to me. .

I didn't defend him, but didn't understand why you made a big deal about his age, saying he was "like a hundred and five". I think it's cool that someone would be at a Stevie concert at an old age, and if he fell asleep then so what. And your "early bird special" comment is just continuing the snide remarks about old people.

But not clapping and leaving early is rude, so I agree with you there.

Oh give me a break! I was just joking about the "early bird" thing. And if he was so old that he couldn't stay conscious for even one song then he didn't belong at the concert. My grandfather who is in his mid 70's went with me to the Jacksonville Fleetwood Mac concert but he was on his feet clapping, etc. during most of the songs, not sleeping!
