Again, that's the $20 billion we know about. When the government is in cahoots with the oil companies, do you think they care how badly they mismanage American funds? You've gotta spend money to make money, especially in their case.

Lightbulb ...

This is a HUGE list of crappy things right now...

Gas prices are outrageous and somebody needs to be slapped.
People don't have the health care they need.
Some people make too much, some, not enough.
Unemployment
I don't think kids are learning much in school.

Etc., etc., etc....

Even still....America is a great country...regardless.

all accusations are assumed to be true then

I agree though that many companies have probably put some of that oil on the black market. The UN certainly did and apparently with KA's blessing.

But, my point was and is, America does not have control of that oil and never will. Thus, if we went to war there to get it, we failed. Moreover, I get that $20 billion or more is a lot of money, but and again, there were easier ways to give these companies money. It is done all of the time via corp. welfare through tax credits and abatements, contracts for BS services, etc.

Yup, it's all the UN's fault. Everything always is.

Not according to Bunnatine Greenhouse, highest ranking civilian at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Michael Shnayerson's Vanity Fair Article Oh! What A Lucrative War in the April 2005 issue.
She said not only was it policy, it was the law to open any contract over 10 million up to competitive bidding.

In this particular instance, yes. Where is the money? If they've done nothing wrong, tell us what happened to it.

SPIN - I never said that and you know it. I do maintain though that the UN is every but as guilty as W's administration and even Clinton's administration for the situation in Iraq today. This was a long brewing even that started when Bush I refused to take out SH. After that, it was a global free for all in the underhanded money making in Iraq. Every major country seemed to profit from it as did many high ranking individuals from those countries. Thus, to assert that the UN is faultless (which I think you are doing) is incorrect.

Why don't we leave that up to Christian Aid, that powerhouse who seemingly makes accusations with self-admittedly little knowledge of the facts
