What are some of your favorite passages from Scripture? from a purely aesthetic, rhetorical, lapidary perspective?
from Psalm 91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. ________________________________________________ from 2 Samuel And the king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and as he went, thus he said, O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! would God I had died for thee, O Absalom, my son, my son! ________________________________________________ Masterpieces of prose rhythm, each of these. |

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths." Nice one, Deanna. ![]()

Psalm 23 (King James Version)
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures He leadeth me beside the still waters He restoreth my soul He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. ____________________________________________________________ It is not even the religious part of this so much that I think is cool, though it is very religious. It is the beauty of the phrasing. I think it is comforting to know that though I may be alone there is always something perhaps watching over me as "walk through the valley of the shadow of death" - which is just a beautiful way to me of expressing difficult moments, making hard choices, etc. I just think it is profound. |

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:21).
"Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." John 20:29 And all of 1 Corinthians 13. Paul got it right for once. ![]() |

Revelations Ch. XIII v. 18
"Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea, for the devil sends the beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short... Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast for it is a human number, it's number is Six hundred and sixty six."

Lo, unto he that eateth my chips, may he feel the wrath of God, and never knoweth peace or prosperity, and yea, may he starve and locusts taketh all his crops, and may he be cursed to wander the earth destitute.
