i absolutely love this album ,ive noticed tho that alot of you who are giving their insights into the songs are missing out sable on blonde.

This is a fantastic song and im not even sure what it is i love about it but it is definately one of my all time favourite stevie songs.

the wild heart is my most beloved album in my entire records collection. in terms of sheer quality i think it's better than BD coz of 3 reasons,
1: it doesn't contain even a single stinker, especially no country ****.
2: I Will Run To You kicks Stop Draggin' My Heart Around's ass.
3: Beauty & The Beast is a song that goes WAY beyond perfection, in fact it's the single song i'll skip there, but only because usually it's too emotionally heavy on me, if i'm in the wrong mood i can be left depressed for hours later.

on a more personal level, it was my first solo stevie album, after 18 years, i can still remember the day i bought it as if it was yesterday, i remember the 1st time i played it, i remember how our neighbours' daughter who saw me with it asked me to borrow it for an hour, to make herself a tape copy, i remember how haunted i was right from the moment i first heard Wild Heart. oddly enough i can also recall exactly how much i paid for it, at the the time i was able to afford a new album every other week, and i remember its being a terribly overpriced imported LP, which made me rather pissed realizing i didn't even have enough money on me to buy it the 1st time i planned. saving my allowance to purchase it the following week must have been the smartest investment i ever made.

overall Christopher, i think you musn't give up on this one, keep playing it over and over again (note: this is a "night" album, maybe you better try it on later hours) and i'm sure you'll end up slowly surrendering its dark charm, it'll grow on you, i promise.

Chris I have to agree with you. The Wild Heart is my least favorite album just because I only listen to 3 songs from it. The rest is just not my liking. I like most of everything else. OSOTM is my album that I like, but I think BD is her strongest. I never listen to this cd at all. Some positives though, Stand Back is an all time classic for me. IT NEVER GETS OLD, NEVER. If Anyone Falls is just a good song, plain and simple, I love it! Enchanted is a nice kicker to get you goin. Sable on Blonde and Gate and Garden didn't do much for me. But I do think I am a different type of Nicks fan condering one of my favorite songs is alice and I like a lot of shows from the klonopin era. But to each his/her own.

But I must say, I Will Run to You has to be the most boring song I have ever heard.

<33333 for The Wild Heart. Right now, it's my favorite Stevie record. Standouts for me, If Anyone Falls, Gate and Garden, Enchanted, Stand Back, Sable on Blonde, Beauty and the Beast.

I think the imagery (sp.?) in Alice is stunning and it almost cathes the same ethereal quality as many of her songs. I think it fails becaue Alice through the looking glass - though perhaps appropriate to her life, was a somewhat trite description and the third person was beginning to work against her pretty much at this point. But, I give the song maybe a C or even a D were it not for the stanza:

Quote:
Each had their own charm...
Buried beneath a solid piece of armour...or a steel plated vest
Some carry a stiletto in their garter along with everything else --
that they carry...Oh, call my name...
is waaaaay cool and evokes a Mata Hari siletto in the garter vision for me.

my band will have a rad cover of this recorded soon. if you don't like the original, you'll looove the cover!
If she does Beauty and the Beast in Vegas (which is possible) I will die happy!

Alice is one of my favorite songs and like I have said before TOSOTM is my favorite Stevie album. That is the one Stevie record I never, ever skip one song on when I listen to it. It just has this magical flow and you can't hit the skip button or else the mood is ruined.

The song Alice is an aquired taste but is one of my favorite Stevie songs. Maybe because I know that it is about drugs and how Stevie wanted to go "back to the other side of the mirror". The whole TOSOTM album has fantastic lyrics. I love Doing the Best that I Can (if only for the line "In my way... disaster was the o0nly thing that I could depend on") and it includes the best cover song Stevie has ever recorded (in my opinion) I Still Miss Someone. And Rooms On Fire is just one of those songs that makes me smile (like the song Say You Will), especially when I hear the line "there is magic all around you every time you walk in the room" I love it!

But back to the topic at hand, I don't hate TWH, I just don't have the urge to pop it in my CD player the way I do with all my other Stevie records. But then again, I have been listening to Street Angel more then any other CD lately, so I guess I am just crazy! Put me in a straight jacket and a padded cell because "Docklands" is one of my favorite songs! No joke.

The album version was old the day it came out. How cheezy-dated-synth can you get???? Oy. I think it's Stevie's most dated song.

Live is another story.............

The album version of Standback isn't all that... I agree. But, like you said, Standback live is just a ball of energy, at least on the SYW tour it was fantastic.

Just for the record - I still love original stand back. It has a sensuality and steady beat that the live versions don't have. I love it, live, too, though.

I love Stand Back, but am I the only one who thinks that it has some of her most inane and ridiculous lyrics? I mean, jeezum crow, that chorus.

And Tower, clean out your goddamned PMs.
