Thats a interesting question..it IS hard to explain

I saw them 6 times over 2003-2004 and wish i wouldve seen more..every experience was different for me..it's great fun, awesome show..even with the same set list (although the 2 i saw in 04 had some diff songs than the 03 ones of course)...

It's also not ONLY about the songs, for myself, and I think for many..it's about being able to see them IN PERSON, as well...and of course being on the front row is a totally different experience in itself..and if you go there's always that chance that you could get up there, or something reallly cool would happen..

I definetely could not say my June 1 2003 show in Greenville where I was row 20, was ANYTHING like my May 23, 04 show where i was on the front row, shaking hands, playing lindseys guitar, etc etc

I saw 3 shows... 2 in 03, 1 in 04... All of them were great... All of them were pretty convenient for me to get to considering I'm in Canada. The first was Chicago in June '03 which and I had points so airfare cost me like $30 bucks for tax... so it was cheap! The second was a 2 hour drive south of me in Grand Forks in August '03, and was as close as they came to my actual city, so to NOT go... I just had to, I would have regrets for a life time if I didn't... The third was in Calgary in 04 and I just made a holiday out of it, flew in for the day... saw the concert, left the next day and flew to my parents in Vancouver for the rest of the holiday - plus there were new tunes to be heard.. so that was more motivation... I would say overall convenience was a main factor in me seeing them multiple times. If they hadn't gone to Grand Forks or Calgary... I may have taken in the Toronto show in Sept o3, but other then that I probably would have only seen the one in Chicago.

And I was bound and determined to see at least one show, cause like someone said earlier... they aren't out there that often and who knows if they will be again...

3 was plenty...

Well, there was a time when I would try to see them EVERY show (how else would I have racked up seeing them over 50 x's since 1974? And most of those before the end of the Tusk tour)...BECAUSE of the "who knows what'll happen" factor of their set list...even if it was just ONE song difference. But, for the most part, since the latter part of the Rumours tour, their set lists didn't/don't change all that much from show to show...maybe over the course of a tour, yeah, they'll add & drop songs here & there, but in a 3 or 4 night stay in town, they'll play the same set all 3 or 4 nights. The problem seems to be that they just don't seem to be able to pull off making each audience feel that they're seeing a unique show. Take someone like Paul McCartney...he pretty much plays the same songs, in the same order, and says the same things between each song...BUT, somehow, he has the ability to make each concert seem unique. Like your particular show is the only time he'd ever said those things or played those songs. THAT is a talent unto itself. I saw him 3 out of 5 nights in LA on his Flowers In The Dirt tour and that third show SEEMED as unique as the first one.

I would be more inclined to see them over and over again despite the fact that the shows don't differ much if money wasn't an issue. IMO, it costs too much to attend one show! (Not that it's any better with other legendary artists). The music is very important to me and seeing them is very important to me, but once I've seen them once on a tour, I figure I can get enough fulfillment from playing the music in my room for free.

yeah, you might change your opinion if you did.

You really do. I think I used to think a little more like you. No more. I really was depressed after, and just wanted to watch the Mac, from the front, for all the rest of my life after I saw the shows...

Very good! Nowdays, seeing them once a tour is fulfilling enough.

I think it would be different if they were also changing personnel every-so-often like in the old days, too. Just when I was getting complacent with the Rumours crew, Lindsey bailed...Rick & Billy joined up and fired up my desire to see Fleetwood Mac again...then when Behind The Mask came out, it was refreshing to see how that lineup had gelled live. Then Christine & Stevie announced their departures, Rick subsequently departed, Bekka & Dave Mason hopped aboard and new excitement reigned. I saw the "apocalypse" sign when The Dance happened without a full album of new material. Christine had enough...so sure, I never got to see Buckingham Nicks, so the SYW tour was exciting in some ways, but kind of drag in others...until the houselights dimmed...I was riveted. Gave me a whole new appreciation for the SYW album...but, alas, they let the watershed go dry. I'm finding new appreciation (through reminiscing via bootlegs) of the 1975-1977 and 1987-1990 shows. I think I've become David.

As I've said over & over...

Yes! I know that if they had a Buckingham Nicks show, and then they said that Peter would join them for some shows, and then Bob Welch would be at some shows and so on, I'd have to see more than one!

That would be an incredible experience!

Well said--I saw them 4 times on the last tour, and would probably have seen them even more if not for financial and geographic limitations.

i caught the SYW tour thrice and each time was just emotional overload, i'm with amber! after the 09.30.03 MSG show, i had a nervous breakdown that required weeks of bedrest and a year of therapy (matt can back me up on that one

)... no i'm not completely insane, it was just waaay too much. then we were front row at the borgata and we spent... we're actually still raving about that show!

that feeling where everyone else is gone, and it's just you and the band, and you're the only person they're singing for... that's magic... i think everyone has someone/something that makes them feel that way, it's just my luck that i ended up with fleetwood mac

...

I saw them four times on the SYW tour. Those are the only times I've seen any of them. However, two of those times were from nosebleeds.

I loved going to the shows, but I'm really tired of that damn setlist. The addition of "Sara" didn't do much for me........ (ducks, hides)

Sure it is. Certainly not all of them, and there are plenty who charge truly despicably high ticket prices, but there are also a number of "legendary" artists who don't feel the need to gouge their fans who wants to see them live. Tom Petty being probably the best example.
