You can buy beer in a gas station, and a pharmacy.

I forgot about that! It's illegal here to buy beer at a bar & take it home with you. You must drink it at the bar (then drive home ) I was in PA & a friend of mine told me he was going to the bar to buy a case of beer for home. That confused me.

They recently changed the law about wine, though. You can take home whatever you don't finish (used to have to discard it or chug-a-lug before you left.)

In Massachusetts as far as my experience, the words are "bubblers", "grinders", and "frappes" (from Friendly's naturally).

70% (Dixie). Just under the Mason-Dixon Line
Surprised I only got 70%, I thought it'd be higher since I've lived in Georgia all my life. If they had asked questions what does "jaeetyet" meant I would have been way up there. For my mothers side of the family I have aunts, but my daddy's side I have aints (like "ain't you going out tonight").
Oh to be southern, it is a lovely thing...

Ok Diss, why is Friendly's soooo nasty? Do I really want to know? I went there for take out the other day and I threw the food out. The fries were cold and soggy and the chicken strips looked like they were not cooked. The sundae was good but sometimes they don't even do that right. The best sundae that I ever had at a Friendly's was at one is S. New Jersey not far from AC.

I can't believe you can get liquor from anywhere but a liquor store.

Each township has their own rules. Like a resturant can't sell liquor at a table past like 9 on Sunday and stuff like that....

I have a bar that was open until 3, and that was late. You had to get out by 2:30 tho.

Places like Houllihans and Fridays stay up that late as long as you hold no drink past 2:30.

But if I want to buy liquor, there isn't a liquor store open past 10 anywhere that I know of. It's much cheaper in NJ than in PA, where my 6 pack of Twisted Teas is 6.99, there it's almost 10 dollars!

I went to Vegas and I was shocked to see liquor at a CVS or something like that! Right in the cooler! It's like that in Europe too and it's facinating. So convenient.

Friendly's is ok. I never had a problem there. When my dad died, we were so poor. My mom worked there for a couple of years so we ate there for free alot cause they felt sorry for us probably LOL. But I liked the food. It was fresh. Ice cream was good. I still get yearnings for Friendly's and there are a million near me!

As for subs or grinders?? I call them hoagies. There are places called Sub Shops and such but I will just call it a hoagie.

I call the grocery store the supermarket. No one I know calls it that except my mom, who is from Philly.

it's cool to see even though some of us are in the same country, we speak so differently.

It is a drug store chain like a Walgreens. CVS is based right here in Rhode Island. The lovely city of Woonsocket, actually.

There is a store on almost every street corner out here.

I hate getting prescriptions from CVS, I usually just go out of my way to get scripts filled at Big Y because they're quick and don't give you a hard time. And it drives me nuts getting that CVS ExtraBucks crap in the mail!

We get ours right on the receipts now. Now you have to wait because the register prints out this very long receipt with all of these useless coupons. I have to remember to use them to because they expire. I have one for $3.50 off of photo finishing so I better use it.

65% (Dixie). Just under the Mason-Dixon Line

I guess you just can't totally break away from where you live.
