I didn't see that anyone had posted this, but I could be wrong:
Live in Boston (the longform video) was certified gold and platinum in December. I think that means sales exceeding 100,000. ![]() |

I don't see ANYway LIB could've sold 1,000,000.
I don't think it's possible......

Criteria is different for long form video. 50,000 is gold. 100,000 is platinum.
It was certified by the RIAA in December for both, but I think they can certify based on shippments after it reaches gold, not necessarily actual copies sold. So the 50,000 was reached in actual sales, but the platinum status was reached based on shipments. |

I'm not sure if they count the dvd's the same as the count the cd's in a multi set package... And Billboard did post that LIB sold about 58,000 units, but those are soundscan numbers based on actual scanned sales. The RIAA combines sales and shippments to stores, record clubs or any other outlet that sells the music, so it's a combination of both. So in actual sales it's above 50,000 units, but in total sales and shippments it exceeds 100,000 units allowing it to be certified platinum.
This is from the RIAA site: RIAA.COM Music Video Longform GOLD Quantity: 50,000 units Requirements: *Defined as a title that has not been theatrically released prior to distribution. PLATINUM Quantity: 100,000 units Requirements: *Defined as a title that has not been theatrically released prior to distribution. MULTI-PLATINUM Quantity: 200,000 units Requirements: *Defined as a title that has not been theatrically released prior to distribution. *Recertified at 100,000 unit sales level. It all sounds like nothing but a lot of marketing hooey.
Rather than try to figure out the imbecilities of the recording industry, wouldn't you rather watch grass grow?

I think since LIB actually counts as a 3 disc set. Therefore it would've sold just over 330,000 copies to become "platinum." I think that's correct. I may just be way off. If I am feel free to throw large, smelly blocks of cheese at me.
