He didn't oversing because he can't sing. MY balls were in pain when he was hitting those high notes. His tighty whiteys were really tight the other night.

I generally disagree, of course, but he was straining a bit more the other night.

My problem is that 99% of them have average voices that have no flavor or personality. The only one with any originality and power is that Nadia chick. Reuben had an average voice, nothing special. Same with Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken. Fantasia could sound like a cartoon character, but she had a helluva unique voice. All these damn kids sing are those awful ballads and karaoke songs that do nothing to flatter their voices (which aren't great to begin with), so I just tuned out this season.

Totally.

Last season, I only caught Fantasia's summertime, which was awesome. But generally I don't like it. Fantasia has my birthday....

I'm always shocked by who they pick, etc. It's like they want them to be dull, no personality in their voice. Stevie would've been kicked off in two seconds

No Ouster for 'Idol' Finalist Over Arrest

NEW YORK - Scott Savol, one of the remaining nine finalists on "American Idol," was once arrested for domestic violence, but the Fox network said the arrest won't cost Savol his shot at becoming an "Idol."

Although several past contestants have been booted for not disclosing arrests, Savol was "forthcoming to the `American Idol' producers and the network regarding his misdemeanor" and "the situation did not warrant his disqualification," Fox said in a statement Thursday.

Ohio police documents posted on The Smoking Gun Web site said Savol, now 28, had a confrontation with Michele Martin, the mother of his son, in February 2001. According to a Shaker Heights Police Department report, the couple had decided to separate, but when Savol arrived at Martin's mother's home to collect his belongings, he called Martin "several vulgar names," "pulled an engagement ring off her finger" and "stated he was also going to take their son."

When Martin threatened to call police, Savol shoved her, pulled the phone from her hand and then threw it at her, striking her in the chest and causing the phone to break, the police report said.

Savol pleaded to a reduced misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, was fined $500, ordered to complete an anger management or domestic violence program, placed on a year's probation and sentenced to a suspended 20-day jail term, according to the Web site.

Great, so the girl two years or a year ago (can't remember) that was an excellent singer but who posed on some website is kicked off but you're going to leave a wife beater in?? Lovely.

It was Frenchie Davis. And she had one of the best voices ever.

This thing with Scott? Well, he was honest about it(apparently), and it was more than 3 years ago. Maybe he's turned his life around?

But if he turns around this Wednesday & starts strangling Carrie Underwood, he's gotta go!

It's certainly positive but what's good for the goose ought to be good for the gander. I just feel like everyone should have to adhere to the same guidelines set forth by the show.

Yes, please don't strangle Carrie...she's one of the only girls left that I like a lot.

So incredibly wrong.

Maybe if enough people hear about it, they will stop voting for him. You'd think his singing would have been enough to make them stop voting!

ITA - apparently the diff here is that Scott told AI about this right away. Frenchie didn't (even though that was totally legal & it was so stupid that they let her go.) That other guy from season 1 or 2 tried to hide his criminal record, so they kicked him off (I seem to recall that he actually had a warrant or something, or it was a case happening at that time, not in the past...)

Whether the show boots him or not, I'm sure he won't be getting many votes anymore
