Yeah, that's the one. Not my favorite performance. I'd die to hear Shirley (and Shirley only) take a stab at War Child, one of Deb's best. She could knock that one out of the park.

Yup. She sang it like it should be done live, like a rock song. Gwen just...I don't know, annoyed me. But this was when Shirley lost her voice because she had cancerous cysts on her vocal chords, so I don't think she sounds too bad.

Oh, man - that kind of explains it, to me. I didn't know Shirley had that. Too bad Gwen annoyed you, cause actually she did really well.... S'okay, now I just get to call you Saddam all the time...

Don't shoot me, but I don't think Gwen has a strong voice to begin with, and she was just too warbly and pitchy on Call Me for my taste.

I read a good interview with Shirley last week where she said that having the cysts removed was the best thing she could have done to her voice. They cut out portions of her vocal chords, essentially making it as if she had never sang before in her life, and now she says that she has an even greater range than she ever had. And from listening to the new album, I must agree. April 17th can't get here quick enough, dammit.

That's great, about Shirley. I want that album, too. Now, about Gwen. I'm not going to shoot you. Her voice is usually warbly. But I think it's great, and pretty strong, and very expressive. Saddam. Actually, I love Gwen so much I might shoot you, I guess...

It's their best album, IMO. Well worth the wait. They ditched the electropop studio gimmicks and just made a straightforward and kick ass rock album.

the Christine McVie "The Video Album" on DVD, Looks/sounds cool...I have so much new stuff I am sifting thru it will be awhile before I get caught back up to my usual level of trading (Not to mention I inherited my Mom's beloved DISCO music collection )
