What a small Ledgie world. Portland native here, but transplanted to LA 12 years ago.

Actually, for SYW and TISL, I came up to PDX and took my syster and niece to the shows. During the SYW show, my niece, who is a die hard 17 year old punk rocker, kept saying during Lindsey's songs, "Isn't this guy done yet ? I came here to see Stevie." I take no responsibility for that !

Actually, I believe that "Thousand Days" was written before "Whole Lotta Trouble". WLT was written during the Tom Petty/Bob Dylan Australia tour and I think 1000 Days is from 1984 and the RAL sessions.

My boyfriend won't go with me to the shows, but he's coming to Vegas. Are you going? (It probably says somewhere, but I dunno where).

This thread is hilarious, btw, it's had me in tears. The "stares at the stairs" line is the best.
Better than "So she stairs at the stares...ooooh there are many things to stair at these days".......................

It's definitely from the RAL sessions, we have that torturous epic demo of it from that period.

That and the fact that this line-

"But I like some kind of TIME/LIFE edition,
Tradition, competition...
Being the only thing that I really have to remember
The great singers and the great players
"

appears on the back cover or RAL.

Didn't she incorporate the "great singers/great players" line into "Has Anyone Ever Written...." at the end of the song at some point? For some reason, I'm remembering it.

Hey Christy, you look very familiar. Have you done any direct mail advertising, or had ads in local papers? I know I've seen your face before. By the way, you may have seen mine. I'm the "food court guy" in the Lloyd Center Mall advertising campaign...I've been in the Oregonian and on Billboards. I think I'm still on in-store kiosk displays.( I avoid malls!) I have a piece of spaghetti hanging from my mouth.

Isn't Oregon great? I love it here. I hope be in the market for a condo or house in a year from now. I'll look you up.

what about...

"oooh and your consistent,
hey, and that's good."

That's a clunker!

AAAAAK. I will forever feel bad about that. That's just not nice.

But... to quote my favourite rocker...

too many quotes to quote, so here goes:

"unbraid with all the love that you have, like a soft silver chain"
personally, love the song and the imagery. my (ex)boyfriend used to braid my hair at night before bed when it was reeeeeally long so we wouldn't get tangled in it. it was such a beautiful and romantic gesture, i love that memory.

"the coastline is glittering like a diamond snake in a black sky"
from out at sea, when you look back at the city lights, with the reflection, it totally looks like, well i don't know if i would have called it a 'diamond snake,' but it could.

"yesterday i was fascinated by somebody else"
i love this lyric, very singable.

how about Rock A Little? that song is garbage. i love stevie, and i will defend her (occasionally ridiculous) lyrics, but RAL crosses lines that even Silver Girl and WTTR...Sara don't come close to. maybe it's the vocals that KILL the song for me. oh wait, add Desert Angel to the inner sanctum of crap. almost forgot.
