Sweet Girl
Oh My Gosh..that line from Sweet Girl is my favorite!! The imagery it conjures up in my mind is so gorgeous and no one can do that to me except Stevie.
What I like about the rain and water references is that she is consistent when she uses them. I like how she uses them to describe certain emotions or certain feelings. The way she says "the ocean is your blanket" makes it seem like the water is their protection, the ocean will keep them safe and warm. Makes no sense, I know but that is Stevie. It is sort of interesting how she has always used certain words and phrases to describe feelings and people and continues to use them. Fire..rain..dreams...wind..colors...beauty At least imo, alot of the time, when she choses to use these words..she is referencing the same feelings or even the same person. Not all the time, but quite often. Take Mick for example. I think she uses the word beauty to refer to him or her feelings for him. (not just in BatB) Lindsey..dreams and rain. (plus many more) Fire...of course she uses it to describe the intensity of a feeling, the burning passion etc but also danger. Point is..I like how she has remained fairly consistent over the years with her choices. She has a way of expressing herself like no one else. "fire on fire, rain on my face..fever goes higher..what can you do, Wild in the darkest places of my mind..thats where I needed you. The way she can just take you right in and get you to basically feel what she is feeling amazes me and there are not many other artists who can do that for me.
