From one of my favorite songs EVAH! But I can't stand this line:

"..and the song
begins to begin
like a wolf
on the run..."

Blech. A wolf? Please. Not crazy about "begins to begin" either.

Also, I like the line "fortune is your life's love" but I hate that she says it twice so close together in the middle verse of Think About It. It sounds like she couldn't think of another line so she threw it in there again.

What's that old saying about one man's trash....

"Begins to begin" is one of my favourite phrases in all her songs. Not crazy about the wolf on the run, but I like the imagery. It's like the "fast like a jet plane and then fast like a star stream" - I like how she uses repetition in her phrasing.

Thus the reason there are so many of us fans... a little something for everyone...

Though I'm not sure I've ever met a fan who loved Docklands.I know, I know. She didn't write it. But she chose it, man. Same dif.

"I wouldn't trade you for jade or for diahhhhhhhhhhhhmonds,
Not for one minute,
Not for anything!
I need you to be there!
Just remember when I am haunted,
That I was just so scared.
Ahhhhhh-ahhhhhhh-ahhhhh-ahhhhh" (again, insert haunted voice courtesy of Lindsey)

Totally changes tense a couple of times in that little bit o' Illume. And come on Stevie! You would so trade someone for diamonds. Jade, forget it, but diahhhhhhhhhmonds. I bet you like 'em quite a bit.

Such a beautiful melody. Such a poor choice of words.
I love that line too! I'm the same, I wear my boots all summer long too. I don't think she's poking fun at herself, I think she's proud of it (her image).

Another verse that I happen to love! It's not the fact that those two words happen to rhyme but what that verse implies.

Yeah, I like it a lot too. Of course, I think that song is perfection, so...

Phony's kind of an odd word, one you don't hear much anymore, maybe that's what bugs people?

Except for Sandy in Grease, that is "you're a fake and a phony and I wish I'd never laid eyes on you!" *throws pompoms on the ground & stalks off*

Even though I love The Blue Lamp (and make no mistake, I do LOVE this song) I find it a bit odd that she wrote a whole song about a lamp. I mean...it's a lamp...come on. Lamps are not interesting, they're not romantic, and I don't care if it's a Tiffany lamp, it's downright silly. Not to diss Stevie or anything but the lamp inspiration has always struck me as a bit strange.

I love this part. I think it's aces.

Don't care. *sticks tongue out*

Her strong vocal, the harmonies, the power of that song & the rest of the lyrics override those little teeny tiny problems for me.

Besides, I tie the "face becomes thin" line to the earlier "the woman is so tired so the woman disappears" part. It's so sad.

Flash in the pan? Hmmm....Natalie's been around for a while now and I don't think the Dixie Chicks are going anywhere any time soon so...

I agree. That whole song is a powerhouse of emotion, even the "whole thing's phony" line. I love it all!!

That line sounds like something Stevie would sing after visting the plastic surgeon.
