Also, I'm hazy on the details but she said she was recently consulted by folks high up in the treasury. They wanted her advice on America's money attitudes and such. This woman has become quite powerful!
Because she knows her ****!

I hate dealing with money, I loathe paying bills, and I just wish money would grow on trees. But it doesn't and the next best thing is Suze. Her tax tips are ace, she's saved me a helluva lot of money over the years. My first year out of college, I got refunds that came to a total of over four grand. That was a happy week at my place.

WOW. Where do you get her tax advice? I sure could use some. I always take the standard deduction. The year I was out of work I tried to itemize everything and it didn't exceed the standard deduction. I probably screwed myself. Stupid tax man.

I've always wondered what Suze Orman did Seriously - I know who she is - what she looks like - I've never paid attention or know what the hell her purpose was..or what she was all about...

now you guys have my curiosity piqued I am first off - putting off taxes because I fear they will be UGLY this year (last year I had three jobs in three different states ) - blah

Also I totally don't do well with money issues - I'm not in deep trouble there but I could use some help ya know - so I think I'll start educating myself on Suze Orman

She has a software out with Quicken that's REALLY good. I always use tha tbefore anything because it automatically deducts stuff that could be considered for work and the like. It's REALLY thorough. Some of the books with good tips are Suze's Financial Guidebook, You've Earned It Don't Lose It, The Road To Wealth, and Ask Suze. She also has lots of videos that you could probably get from the library and she has some great exclusive books and stuff when she goes on QVC.

I've only read 9 steps to financial freedom and courage to be rich. I didn't realize she had software out there, that is good to know. I love software that does stuff for me!

I remembered another funny thing she said, "I'm 54, don't I look good?" Crowd agrees. "You wouldn't say that if I were standing up here naked."

Cool. I would start with her latest book that is targeted at us (20s through 35ish). It is laid out very nicely and not at all intimidating. Plus the content seems really straighforward and practical.

And 3 jobs in 3 states? I feel for ya. I've been putting mine off and I've just had the one in one state.

She says stuff like that all the time on her show! She once said "I've loaned family members money and I have a better chance of naturally growing Anna Nicole's breasts than getting any of it back."

Liten to the voice of experience here - unless someone, relatives included, signs a contract - consider the money a gift not a loan and you can then only be surprised when the 10% of all donees actually pay you back

lol....well I finished college in 2004 - I had a job there in NM - then I moved to DC for a summer (paid) internship...which NO state taxes were taken out of) - THEN I moved to New York and now have this job....my tax stuff is a mess and I don't even want to deal with it - so I'm going to go to a service for the first time ever.

I will totally check out her latest book....what is the title? I'm all for something that's not intimidating and won't make me feel like a complete idiot for spending too much money on things I don't need

It might... She was on PBS AGAIN last night (I? Can't get away from the woman! Our PBS is apparently all Suze, all the time...) anyway, she was talking from her new book, and she was all "work late, work all the time, be the first one there in the morning, if they ask you to come in at 8, come in at 7, Don't leave till 7 at night, make yourself the most valuable employee there. Do not ask for a raise." And then she was talking about Credit cards, and she was like "A good use of a credit card is going to the store to buy groceries. A bad use is buying takeout or eating at a restaurant. A good use is buying a car, or fixing your car that will get you to work. A bad use is..." etc. She was just saying, basically, what everyone already knows but that is hard to do!!!

Haha, cute. She won't either. One of the other funny things she said yesterday was, "By all means get your Starbucks. I know I have advised people not to go there and to save $4 a day which translates into $1460 a year but it isn't that simple. You go through your days, working hard, depriving yourself of Starbucks. Then you go shopping and you see a $1,000 handbag and you think 'I can't even get my Starbucks, I work my tail off, I deserve that handbag.' And you buy it. For god's sake, GET YOUR STARBUCKS."

It's The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous and Broke. She also has a website, www.suzeorman.com.

That is different from what I heard her saying on PBS last night. JUst so you know. I'll have to watch again, god knows it will be on probably about 25 more times this week.

I got it last week, but I haven't read it yet. Should be good, though.
