Yeah, but it doesn't make her less stellar of an actress. Birth, Dogville, Moulin Rouge, The Others, and The Hours proved that she's fantastic. Most stellar actors star in fluff to racket up their box office power, anyway. Meryl Streep does it, Julianne Moore does it, Clint Eastwood has done it. I'm with you in that I cringe at some of their choices, but such is life. Bewitched is gonna suck so badly, though, that I'm in disbelief.

By the way - Beyonce needs to go away - she sounded good and all - but did she really need to sing like almost every song? And the Counting Crows? Adam didn't sound too good in some parts...
Beyonce needs a timeout. I would have rather seen Minnie Driver do her own Damn song, that would have at least been interesting. Also, Beyonce singing in French is wrong on so many levels I don't know where to begin.

Deanna, I feel the same way as you about Penelope Cruz! Why do you suppose that is? She seems really sweet though so I'm going to try and reform my evil ways.

Adam just looked rediculous. I don't know if he is trying to look as rediculous as possible but he's done a good job at it.

I thought Beyonce singing in French was wrong also - I mean at least it sounded okay - but I don't know - it just bugged me....well she bugs me in general...

As for Penelope Cruz - I really can't pinpoint why she bugs me so....but since the very first time I saw her in a movie I have not been able to stand her - she enrages me lol...I have no clue why Well - she does sort of remind me of a Chiahuahua But I don't think that's why I can't stand her

My sister actually has a huge issue with people who win Oscars for "impersonating" others...lol...she feels as though that, for some reason, is less legit than someone who helps creat a character and act out an original character ya know? I kind of see where she's coming from with that - but I also see that it takes some talent to emulate someone Thoughts?

Still - I don't thinK that Blanchett was the best choice for the Oscar...though that's just my opinion....

Well, I thought Blanchett was Oscar worthy for The Aviator, and I think she's Oscar worthy in everything she touches. But this year she simply was not as good as Virginia Madsen. The Academy has a history of awarding actors who play actors, so I wasn't really surprised, I just thought Madsen had it in the bag, and rightfully so.

Well I have to admit I haven't actually seen the Aviator so really I should keep my opinion to myself until I see it - or I shouldn't even have an opinion until I see it lol - but I did want Virginia Madsen to win because I really thought she gave a spectacular performance.

I'm going to add that Kate Winslet looked so gorgeous - she is so beautiful too And though I LOVE Eternal Sunshine and LOVE her - I didn't think her role was Oscar worthy and I was actually a little confused as to why she was nominated But I was happy about it - though not at all suprised that she didn't win.

It was a great performance but up against the other roles that actresses were nominated for it seemed almost trite. If she won I would have lost consciousness from shock.

Oh yeah, did anyone else notice the chuckle out of Kirsten Dunst when Chris Rock said Tobey Macguire is just a boy in tights! She whispered something to someone beside her and laughed a bit. It was too funny!

Right. That's what I was meaning to say - I didn't want to belittle her performance in any way - because it was really good - but like you said - up against the others

I was kind of pulling for Imelda...but oh well - I knew that Hillary would take it

Oh, Joan.

Salma Hayek is stunning & sexy. She may have the most perfect set of boobs in Hollywood. I adore them....er, I mean, her.

Amber I thought the same thing about Babs - does she own another dress? And Julia must be nursing - I thought she was going to fall out of her top. I didn't think anyone was a train wreck as far as clothes & hair go last night, but:

Loved: Winslett, Swank, Blanchett, Hayek, Barry, Madsen, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Beyonce (the dress she walked in wearing), Johansson, Dunst, Mirren

Eh: Benning, Linney (loved the dress, but not that drab color; still unsure about that hair),

Hated: Melanie Griffith, Zellweger (hideous hair & skin), Portman (I don't understand how she's on everyone's best dressed - looked like she tossed on a set of drapes), Barrymore (gorgeous for anyone else, but not Drew)

Because it was so stunning visually. I loved it for that. If you took out the dialog and left subtitles and the music, it would be spectacular.

Yes it is but I think that's mostly why I like it. It's just fascinating to explore that type of groupthink dynamic. Also, how about Dennis Hopper's role? Talk about disturbing!

I actually thought Natalie Portman looked beautiful

BUT I agree about Zellweger....blah - AND I cant' get over the sour lemon face she's always got on..

Laura Linney - I HATED her hair - I thought that hair-do was just awful - the stylist could have done something much more flattering - but blah - hated it...
