That's quite the exaggeration. I've never seen anyone told to "go worship her some more" or "learn to accept her faults" on this board. You may not like some of the things said about her, but tough tacos. Not everyone has the same opinions or ways of saying things, and while the discourse can get pretty rough around here, it certainly isn't anywhere near as bad as you make it out to be. Aren't you the one who got upset because another poster said Stevie "croaked" Rhiannon? Oy, save your great offense for meaningful things, not the vocals of a fiftysomething singer.

Speaking of their dumb system, they all got into a huge fight last year when they were trying to come up with a new system or names for their STAR MEMBERS who had 10,000 or 1 BAZILLION posts. I believe GOD was being considered for the top honor , I dont remember what they settled on, but it was funny watching the moderators still threatening to close down the thread because their GODlike members couldn't agree on something.

They knocked your post count down to zero and erased all your stars if you stepped out of line. The first time that happened to me was when I put a dirty limmerick about Toad in my signature.

I've always considered Mick a bit of a dufus personally -- venal, irresponsible & misguided -- but he's always been my favorite drummer in rock & roll, & I'm practically grateful that he was Fleetwood Mac's drummer all these years based on musical reasons alone (that plus the fact that it's kind of cool to have such a tall drummer in your band). I would not have fallen so deeply in love with Fleetwood Mac's music had it not been for his propulsive, pared-down attack on the skins. That is as much a part of the signature Mac sound as anything else.

And it's always been my theory that Mick's height & body frame play an integral role in his sound, just like Christine's physical characteristics influence her style.

And that's a relatively recent phenomenon, by the way -- it started building steam with the reunion. Before that -- all the way back decades -- it was barely a blip on the fan radar screen. There may be a few scattered fans here & there who say they believed in the Stevie-Lindsey pairing, but it wasn't a "movement." Actually, Stevie Nicks fans (okay, many of them) were vociferously anti-Lindsey in the past, & many were anti-Fleetwood Mac. They were widely known to be such; many of them over the years were caustic & brutal about Stevie's bandmates (& some Mac fans were pretty brutal about Stevie) at concerts & elsewhere. Some of them used to say to me, "The others can go to hell."

What goes around, comes around. This band's fans have never been tightly knit in their love or of a mind with their devotion. That is a phony view of the reality; it never existed.

There is some confusion, too, about what it means to be a chiffonhead. A chiffonhead isn't synonymous with a Stevie lover. "Chiffonhead" is a sarcastic derivative of "Machead," & it was originally used to denote a type of Stevie fan who continually & inappropriately invoked the trappings of Stevie's image (the faeries, the unicorns, the stars, the fog, the magick, the pouty looks, the long white gowns, the New Age crystals) in their own lives & interactions with other fans. Chiffonheads were (are?) the people who talked to you -- with a straight face -- about the spirits speaking to them & who signed their letters & e-mail to you with "Much love" or "Magick unto ye" or "blessed be" or any number of silly phrases from Stevie's brand of Wicca & who addressed one another as "Angel" & who liberally peppered their conversation (such as it is) with lines from Stevie Nicks songs & interviews & who often turned into werewolves at the slightest artistic or musical criticism of Stevie herself. Such people did exist, regardless of whether you choose to believe it, & it was my experience that they existed in large numbers, & I don't need anybody telling me that I exaggerate it or concoct it or see it in a bad dream. Some of those people were extremely nasty (there's one in Kentucky who has alienated virtually the entire fan world for numerous reasons, & another one actually prevented a song from being included on a Stevie Nicks album after he stole it).

When I speak scornfully of "chiffonheads," those are the people I'm referring to -- not just anyone who happens to love Stevie.

I was thrown out of that live chat Mick had right at the beginning. I had a good feeling about it all from that point!

The rampant vainglory & nastiness over there was entertaining for a short time, but what ultimately got me out of there was the almost complete absence of threads worth reading (to me). That's always what drives me from the grounds. People say anything they want about me -- they always have -- but one thing they can't say is that I don't like talking about Fleetwood Mac. If there isn't anything interesting being said about the band -- historical, anecdotal, critical, etc. -- I lose interest in the pad.

Most intelligent folks saw the writing on the wall when entire threads revolved around whether or not Todd would divulge the color of the boots Stevie wore at the rehearsals. If they didn't get what that inane place was about then, however, they certainly did once threads began to pop up regarding erotic dreams about Mick Fleetwood's "balls."
