I don't know if these fit "epic" standards, but whatever... "Nobody Girl" by Ryan Adams "Jesus of Suburbia" by Green Day (both are 9 minutes +) "Go or Go Ahead" by Rufus Wainwright "Paranoid Android" by Radiohead.

American Pie, by Don McLean ?
Long Long time ago I could still remember how the music used to make me smile And I knew if I had my chance that I could make those people dance and maybe they'd be happy for awhile...... But February made me shiver with every paper I'd deliver bad news on the doorstep I couldnt take one more step I cant remember if I cried when I read about his widowed bride But something touched me deep inside the day the Music Died.... So bye bye Miss American Pie drove my Chevy to the Levy but the Levy was dry and good old boys were drinking whisky and rye singing "This'll be the day that I die" "This'll be the day that I die......." there's more of course, because its EPIC! (I STILL know the whole thing by heart) I also want to suggest that Bruce Springsteen's early stuff had epic songs in there, and KISS's Rock and Roll all night and Party Every day could go on forever...also, believe it or not, Gordon Lightfoot did some epic songs, the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald comes to mind... The first noted Pink Flloyd tune- Crazy Diamond-excellent
How about Europa-Santana, it is instrumental but fits all the qualifications, also Sambre par te, by Santana- Blinded by the light- Manfred Mann Band (not Springsteen) Riders on the storm-Doors Freebird-Lynard Skinnard, as over played as it is---I still can't resist cranking it up when I hear it! Lala-already mentioned obvious Clapton choice...what about Further on up the Road? Whipping Post- Allman Brothers Silent all these years-Tori Amos AH----I have to go to work, I'll be thinking about this topic all day! Thanks!! oh can't forget....Lou Reed's Live _SWEET JANE!

Well, I guess that Stairway to Heaven might fit as well as Freebird.
I guess just long songs come to mind: Hold Your Head Up-Argent Roundabout-Yes Piano Man-Billy Joel Greeneyed Lady- Sugerloaf (I think it's by them) Baba O'Reilly- The Who Pinball Wizard- Elton John Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me-Elton John Ok here is an R&B song from the 70s that I hated but I guess that you could say that it is: Always and Forever- Rose Royce (I am not 100% it's by them) |

Nights in White Satin - The Moody Blues
Breath deep the gathering gloom Watch lights fade from every room Bedsitter people look back and lament Another day's useless images spent Empassioned lovers, wrestlers one Lonely man cries for love and has none New mother picks up and suckles her son Senior citizens wish they were young Cold hearted orb that rules the night Removes the colors from our sight Red is gray and yellow white But we decide which is right And which is an illusion...
