Oh god, I totally forgot about this song... and for once it isn't Stevie's fault that I hate it!!! It's the fault of whoever is playing the guitar. It isn't the music itself that bothers me... I can't stand it when guitar players don't lift their fingers up when sliding along the fretboard from one chord to another. It creates this god awful scraping noise that overpowers any actual music they're making and grates on my nerves! UGH!!! sorry, just had to vent about that one.

Honestly, Stevie is my inspiration,I sound like her when I sing ( a little) and I love singing along and listening to 95% of her music. Liked her better with Lindsey vocalizing along. Will always turn the volume way up for: Frozen Love,Crying in the night, Silver Springs (original) When I see you again, and recently their work on Say you will like, Say Goodbye and Smile at you.

What can I say, I love the Buckingham/Nicks sound and always will
Amen. Forever.

I have a total different perspective on this. I think Stevie is a complex artist and life has made her even more complex. It's great to listen to her Buckingham/Nicks sound, but it's just one part of her creativity. Her voice right now has a quality that many great artists never had, it's uncompromising. For instance, the emotions of Running Through The Garden, sung by her actual voice, arrive to me with a much stronger impact then some of her songs sung by her seventies' voice. An example is Silver Springs: it's an incredible song, and to hear it performed by her more mature voice, it's a totally different, more engaging experience.

I don't know, I prefer her old demos from when she remakes them in the later years. And Silver Springs I am torn. I think the Dance version is #1, but after hearing the 70's one on the RUmours remaster....I don't know. That one is damn good, and very angry! And I know on that one, the emotion is all very fresh. But on the Dance, it was like a resurgence of the same feelings, which is very cool, too. I thought Silver Springs on LIB was awful though. Am I alnoe there?

I think the majority of people that post on this board prefer the simplier Stevie- That is why we like the simple demo's and the "sweet songs" although you can feel the anger on Silver Springs(Original Version), it has "that" sound...with the slide guitar whining that just captures you and makes you listen to the music-not just the words. As much as I admire her talent for writing mysterious songs that we can all ponder the meanings of....there is no question that throughout her career Lindsey has complimented her beyond compare....She knows that .As does he. and I somethimes think that has alot to do with the anger of their songs to each other. Not just the love lost but the spirit-the other sense of self that each has with the other...Without sounding too mystical or "out there" I believe they are ONE- he is grounded while she is floating/ She is reasonable, logical-he is tempermental/ she is a dreamer, he is reality...I don't know I think in their own minds..They are forever a part of the other.
Make any sense to anyone else////or am I just rambling...??
Just my own thoughts on anger and destiny>>>

Blah. I don't really care for Stevie's "sweet" 70's voice. Take Silver Springs for example...I cannot stand the Rumours version. I find it totally lacking.

To be honest, I miss Stevie's 81 - 83 voice. That was her best vocal period, in my opinion. But, I also love her voice now.

I agree totally about Stevie's 81-83 voice, but disagree about not liking the old voice. That voice would come in "second" over nowadays' voice.

Of course I care! Hmm..maybe I should retract my statement about the 70's voice..there's times when I like it, times when I don't.

The Original version of Silver Springs is not the one that you hear on Rumors released....I don't know where it is from but both Lindsey and Christine sing backing vocals...I think it may have been from the boxed set of the chain from years ago...I find it hard to believe that you can't listen to Beautiful Child or Gold Dust Woman and not think her voice sounded GREAT-Sweet, husky, sexy, mysterious...whatever. You prefer the 81-83 voice? Like which particular songs...that were released, not demos?
I am curious...

I have that version of Silver Springs as well. I still prefer The Dance version.

Um, as for the 70's voice... I dislike the vocals on Landslide, Dreams, Silver Springs, and I Don't Wanna Know. By the time Tusk came around, her voice was changing already, and I do like the Tusk voice. Beautiful Child is one of my favorites of hers..

Anyway, I think her voice was just so much more powerful from BD to WH. She may have lost some of the high notes by then already, but to me, Edge is her absolute best vocal ever. Sleeping Angel, Gypsy, Violet and Blue, Blue Lamp, Stop Draggin My Heart Around, Sable On Blonde, Beauty and The Beast....the list could go on and on.
