Default Broken Heart - A Medical Event?

I thought it was interesting that they are now putting a medical diagnosis on what it means to have a "broken heart". Check out the article:

Broken Heart

Has anyone experienced a "medical event" as described here?

No, I've never had heart attack-like episodes or heart palpitations. I can't imagine what it would be like, to be honest. You must be pretty whacked out of your mind with grief for this to happen, though.

It sounds like an anxiety attack to me.

No, I've had anxiety attacks related to love, but it wasn't like what they describe, and it wasn't from somebody dying. So basically, no.

It is hard to say because an anxiety attack does feel like what you would think a heart attack feels like. I have had an anxiety attack, but never a heart attack. Your chest does tighten up with an anxiety attack - in fact, my chest wall was sore for several days afterward.

The symptoms they describe are very similar to those of panic attacks. I used to have them every day, and I would become short of breath and feel just like I was having a heart attack.

yeah, I thought that too, but i'm not sure i had "chest pains" unless you count not being able to breathe and your limbs going numb as chest pains. God, that's the worst. I had them a couple times while i was driving, and i was scared ****less, as my hands, arms and legs were going numb. Holy crap! And then the weird thing where I would fall asleep immediately afterwards. Gosh, that was really convenient...

I've had a handful of panic attacks. They are very frightening. My first one was over my upcoming wedding at the time. It was my wake up call that I couldn't do it. I got very dizzy and short of breath. I also did feel a tightening in my chest and some palpitations.

Unfortunately after breaking up with my fiance I had some more, man that sucked. Maybe that was the heartbreak thing, but I haven't had one for years.
