interesting, considering I already told you I am a child advocate. You know NOTHING about me.

The special and sacred relationship between man and woman that has been believed in since the beginning of time. The joining together of these two people to create life!
What? Where the hell are you getting your information.

And what about the millions of Americans who DON'T want the marriage amendment added to the constitution?

It has no place there - because it's a religious issue - again, give me ONE good reason why there should be no gay marriage - a reason that IS NOT based on religion - the ones you stated above are religious - and your last statement - marriage to create life?

So should people who are not able to have children - should they not be allowed to marry?

There is no place for a marriage definition in the United State Constitution. period.

Thus, someone would have had to integrated that on their own if it weren't in the text already.

Anything can influence translation: cultures, languages (obviously), cultural upbringing... and all of these can lead to biases. Who's to say what the original intention of the Bible (or any other heavily-translated religious text) is? Some translations are more faithful than others, sure, but people also read different translations to fit their needs. There's a New Testament translation of the Bible that looks like a Cosmo magazine (it's called "Revolve" and aimed toward teenage girls; the male counterpart is called "Refuel"). It's formatted in a way that makes it easier to understand for the reader. You can't tell me that they didn't dumb things down a little or possibly even take some liberties in the translating of the text in order to better appeal to teenage girls (or boys).

Take for instance this. I Googled it, since I don't have a Bible nearby (I think I lost it a long time ago at a day camp.) I found the following:

To me, that hardly implies, "So we can have sex with them."

Okay, that one? Yeah.

Eh. This can be construed as, "We wanna have sex, y'all!" But it oculd possibly be interpreted as something different. I'm not up to snuff on all the Biblical stories, so forgive me if I'm being an idiot with this.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that over time, as people change, dialects change, etc, definitions can change. Connotations and denotations can change. Perhaps that is the case with many translations of religious text (specifically, the Bible)? Perhaps, even, it is safe to assume that when the Bible refers to men, it is literally referring solely TO men? (Not to be misogynistic or anything, but it's something that I thought about a few weeks ago).

Anyway. Feel free to ignore me, since I know next to nothing about the content of Biblical text. I'm only really familiar with a few things here & there, and that's it. In the end, blahblahblah translationschangestuff-cakes.
To "know" in the biblical since is an old english term used when translating the KJV. It means to "have relations with or to have sex with"

Right - or beat, molested and worse in foster care?

I have heard some HORRIBLE stories of kids shuffled though the system - then once they turn 18 they're dropped like hot potatos with no clue what to do = and a history of abuse etc...it's a sad state indeed

The babies or the serial killers?

By The way I respect your politic and moral beliefs even if I don't agree with any of them (at least among those I've read about), it's only that to play "what if" with abortion seems pointless to me. JMHO

I just gave you one. Because really its unnatural it goes against basic and common law, to procreate which only can come through Male/Female joining together as one soul to live together and create life.

and basically, being tired of this whole arguing crap, I asked a professor today her opinion on all of this and she said:

"You know if animals have gotten in right all these years, why can't we? If a dog knows what to hump, why can't we? Id like to think we are smarter than a dog."

And I know that’s going to offend everyone (cause EVERYTHING does around here) but just note that I DIDNT SAY IT...my PROFESSOR IN COLLEGE DID.

You're right it does...and thats what is sad about it. To think about all the life that could have been, but wasn't.

You still don't understand...ITS NOT OUR RIGHT to kill that child no matter of what YOU think the circumstances of his/her life will be. HOW DARE ANYONE take that life away from that child.

No you didn't. You gave me an opinion based on your religion.

Guess what - your professor is an idiot.

There are animals that have sex with animals of the same sex Nature - gotta love it.

And - gay people know how to knock up others - they know how to "get it right" as you said

Again - what about men/women who are straight but sterile? Should then not be allowed to marry or have sex??

I think it is YOU who don't understand....your beliefs are not everyones - and therefore you will never be able to change the minds of others - because not everyone believes in your mega-Christian values...

And um - dogs who hump legs and things? Don't think they're "getting it right"... as your brililant college professor said
