I was just wondering if anyone knows why literally every Starbucks in London almost exclusively plays Fleetwood Mac/Fleetwood Mac-related songs??? It's been like this for about the last year or so, and it's just got more and more.
At first during an hour's stay or so, I would hear two or three Mac songs. Now AT LEAST 1 out of 3 songs are Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey, Stevie, or Christine. More often, every other song is FM and today it was non-stop FM: I heard every song from the White Album and Rumours (in no particular order) whilst sipping on a latte and eating a fudge brownie. In the past year, I've heard songs from all 3 of Lindsey's solo albums (even the less popular songs), Christine's '84 album, and many many Stevie solo songs. I've even heard Bob Welsh and Peter Green songs. Seeing as this is now the case for EVERY Starbucks that I've been to in London (and I go at least twice a day to one of 40 or 50 branches), and that the songs change on a daily/weekly basis, I've come to the conclusion that someone very high up in the Starbucks corporate ladder is a MEGA fan of Fleetwood Mac. (There is no way in hell any of the execs would allow "the guy in charge of Starbucks music" to turn all of Starbucks London into a "Fleetwood Mac experience" - which is why whoever is responsible for this must be, pardon the pun, very high up in the chain.) Well, whoever you are, if you are reading this, thank you! You've certainly achieved the aim of your job with this customer, and because of you I now can't have a conversation in Starbucks without pausing after a few minutes, smiling like a madman and saying to whoever i'm talking to "(insert FM song title)....!!!" ![]() |

It was me.
LOL! I wish some head honcho at Quizno's would put a few more FM songs on our playlist. There's only 4 - DS, GYOW, TAM, & Peacekeeper

That's awesome.
I work at a Starbucks here in the US, and we only have one CD that has FM songs, and-- surprise surprise!-- it's the Sheryl Crow Artist Choice album. The only songs on it are Rhiannon, GYOW, and the album version of Landslide. |

Perhaps thru Micks wheeling and dealing ventures..he's got a nice amount of Starbucks shares? Who knows....but yes Seteca, now we know where to find you on a regular basis if your'e not on the Ledge...
One thing though Mr high-up exec, if your'e listening, please reduce the size of your coffee cups. Barrel loads of coffee are a real struggle!!!!

I agree with Seteca, every time we hang out in London we go to Starbucks... On EVERY single occasion they play a Mac related song.. I remember hearing Peter's guitar on "Love That Burns" in the background once and thinking "what the f**k?"
But it's really cool.... I'll give you my thinking behind this conspiracy... Seteca accounts for about 75% of Starbuck's UK trade.. Got to keep him happy so they pump in endless Mac songs... I'm waiting for some Pink Floyd too... Then I know my theory is correct... ![]() |

cool, i should go to starbucks then! i'm on study abroad in london and all i hear anywhere is eminem and that awful new song by the killers, you know the one with the big buildup at the beginning?
i went by 77 charing cross where danny kirwan used to buy jazz records. dobell's is of course gone; it's an expressmart. i went in to ask the cashier the exact address, and if there used to be a record store there. he didn't know, so i said, "well if this is 77 charing cross, danny kirwan used to buy records here." "who?" "he used to play guitar for fleetwood mac." and then he said, "ooh, stevie nicks!" in this heavy indian accent. it was so funny and cute. |

Yes, that's what I was thinking. I don't go to Starbucks here in RI so I don't know what they play.Last edited by WelshWitchPMD; 02-06-2005 at 09:47 AM.. |
