That is what I thought, too. Wasn't it supposed to be "Dreams - Part 2"?

It says on the Nicksfix and liner notes for Bella Donna that she wrote it.

Not only that- but she dropped the key by at least a whole step... WTF??? Why even bother to do a rock-n-roll song it you're not going to rip the roof off with its energy?

I just don't get it.

Maybe she thinks her presence alone makes it magnificent. Who knows, really...

She's amazing. Her stage presence is phenomenal, too, she just COMMANDS all eyes to be on her. You can't look away.

Doh! For some reason I always thought that was written by Tom Petty. I guess it's because the song itself is so un-Stevie. Maybe it's because it is so "direct," and not cloaked in poetry or written in the third person.

MY BAD!

This is much later, later, later......

Extra special thanks go to Heather and Amber for sending me "Insider" live. It is really, unbelievably awesome. I've been listening to it for a several weeks now, and I have a few questions.

#1) I remember how GREAT Hard Promises was when it came out with Stevie and the Girls all over that sucker. Where and when was this live performance of "Insider"??? I'm assuming it's gotta be '81/'82 cuz of The Voice.

#2) Why the hell doesn't Stevie sing like this anymore????? I just know that she could do it if she tried.

#3) If there is a video out there of this performance- I absolutely MUST HAVE IT!!!!! If it exists and anyone has it, please let me know.

Holy crap- these lines from the live performance, in particular, are ****ing mind-blowing:

"It's a cage without a key
You can feel the danger...

Ohhhhhhh, I'm the one who oughta know!!!
"

and {quietly}

"I'll bet you're his masterpiece.....
I'll bet you're his self-control
Yeah, you'll become his legacy...
His quiet world of white and gold....
"

and then she RIPS the roof off-

"Yeeeahhh, I'm the one who oughta knoooow...
I'm the one you left to rust
Not one of your twisted friends...
I'm the one you couldn't loooooooooooovvvveee!!!!!
"

and the then the absolutely classic Stevie "oooh's" at the end.....

Curtis was absolutely right....

It's really, really, REALLY good. Not like anything in today's music. No wonder the music industry is in the ****hole.

Tom Petty in his prime was it. And Stevie was the absolute Goddess of Rock-n-Roll... Absolutely.....

Dude, I know. I weep with the beauty just thinking about Insider, Live. I've been asking around, and apparently no video of this song exists.
greatest heartbreak of my Mac life. Can you believe "The Voice"? doesn't it defy description? God, that harmony! I could die right now having heard it! And my fave part, at the end, where Tom goes: "Stevie Nicks!" and the crowd ROARS!!! *sigh* "all i've ever wanted....was the video of this song..."
I'm in lurve... Insider, Live, is my favorite mistress...

The only video for this song is the regular video for the song, which is not the "live" version. It appears to be shot on the same day as SDMHA - Stevie has the same braids in her hair.

Me too. Insider gives me chills. And you're right, no video exists (that we know of, anyway.)
