I only saw #1 and I want to see the rest. I want I want I want! I tried to read the books but could not get through them. I read #1 but #2 lost me. Fantasy is pretty much my favorite genre so I dig this stuff.

i'm glad you want to see them, too. Fantasy is my favorite genre, too. well, and mystery. That's why i'm confounded and don't love it. Maybe if i sit down and just really watch the sh** out of it, i will suddenly love it. I noticed i didn't really care for the what i see as mostly cheesy dialogue, and i didn't care for a lot of the "antics" that were supposed to be funny. But still, ....

I think it's best to read the books first and then watch the movies. With the history of the books stored in your brain, the movies are that much richer.

Gandalf's confrontation with the Balrog, the entire Shelob episode and Eowyn's confrontation with the Witch King are absolutely awe-inspiring.

Granted, some were disappointed by the fact that the movies were not faithful to the books in some areas- however, for me, the overall impact is indescribable.

The best movies ever, bar none.

YEP!!!!!!!!!

I wish they could have shot five films instead of three because that way we would have had more bok scenes - like Tom Bombadil (sp.?) But, it is perfection as is.

There were parts of 1 that I felt were sluggish but then I would just admire the beauty of the scene, such beauty! I haven't seen 2 though so who knows what I'll think of it. I wonder if Stevie and the other members of the Mac have seen these and if they like them.

Two is pretty, too, I especially loved the flaming opening scene. But again, golum is in the whole damn thing it seems. so that part is not pretty. I feel like if i can just get through the exposition beginning part in the third one, that i'll really enjoy it.

But he already livessssss in my housssssseeee...

My mother and brother... and, really, my entire family... love these films, but I've never watched any of them all the way through!
I always fall asleep.

They're BEAUTIFUL visually, and the stories are compelling... but I can't make it through to the ends.

Of course, but he's still really ugly. Like, really ugly.

saw them in theatres (after reading the books) and then got the theatrical version and along the way all the extended versions when they were released aswell , great films.
As i was watching the extended version of Peter jackson's King Kong , and afterward hours of behind the scenes docus , I thought hey let's go and watch the lotr trilogy again I thought i would do 1 out of 6 discs of the films so it would take me a week however i'm 2 days behind now and starting with the final part of Return of the king tomorrow.

btw Stevie should have done an end credits song for The Two Towers (as both Enya and Annie Lennox fit perfectly for the first and last chapter however "gollums song" by Emiliana Torrini has never been my favorite.

Wink

The scene with Saruman from the Return of the King extended cut was GENIUS.
