I really love singing but I have horrendous stage fright. One time I was singing karaoke and forgot the words to Stand f-ing Back. I couldn't believe it. I also couldn't read the words cuz my brain was frozen with fear.
However, in more recent years I have become a little more comfortable so now I can at least get the words out up there. I recently did Soak up the Sun while out with Mom and the aunts, I had a good time with it, it's a fun song anyway. But my higher register was blown out from screaming for everyone, plus you can still smoke in NH and it was smokey. However, when I was done my Mom said, "You did good and you looked so pretty up there." At home I like to sing, and in the car. I haven't been singing all that much lately. I could never be a singing star because of my panic and the fact that my voice is somewhat delicate, I don't think it would hold up very well on tour. But still, that was a dream of mine for a long time. Perhaps I will sing publicly at some point but it's okay that I won't be a star. I've had people compliment me on my singing al ot of times. I was asked to sing with a singer friend of mine but she was too crazy to be able to follow through. And I was too crazy to do it on my own. I had a friend tell me I HAD to sing, what was I doing? That was very flattering. Once I got to sing Dreams with a band at a party, that was a total trip. They knew the harmonies and sung along and that's when I could relax and enjoy. Later on my friend said it totally brought him back to high school and listening to that song with his friends, it was such a trip! I really enjoy singing with others. Last year I got a karaoke machine for Christmas and it has been so much fun! Sorry for the term paper here but I am passionate about this subject, having been a closet singer for 18 years! ![]()

I never ever sing along to songs. I don't know why, either.
I did try Karoke with a few other people from work one night. We sang "Feel Like a Woman" it was kind of fun ,too. I had people tell me that I sounded good and I looked like a real performer up there. LOL OK whatever. I would never do it alone however. I use to be in the choir in middle school but that was many years ago. |

I hate to change the topic, but here's a really brief question: When it comes to Stevie songs (esp. Stand Back), do you twirl when you sing along?
I do, I admit that (I can't IMAGINE how I must look) No doubt lots do, this being The Ledge and all ![]() |

Great, five minute running, dying shots. Sounds enthralling. That's too bad, i thought that movie would be better. But i meant, a different theoretical movie i was in with them... uh, Strand said they cut all my scenes, then i said, that's why the movie tanked, etc. It was stupid at the time... ![]()

Basically, when I sing along (by myself or in kareoke type situations), I always try and do the moves Stevie did on stage. Yes, I have studied the Red Rocks DVD Geez, maybe I AM gay? ![]() |

What in the hell did I just walk into???
Ahhh...sorry Diss but I think Jason kicks your fabulous coin-bouncing booty as far as celebrity goes He'll sing his ass off to anyone at any time, any place (sober and drunk). I was even serenaded on my birthday I've been singing for years and years. I've been in a few musicals and have received a few awards. The choral teacher I had in high school wanted me to try out for All State but I ended up with bronchitis and so that went out the window (thank God...I hate NJ All State). As far as pursuing it full time as a career, I have no ambition to be a solo artist at all. I think being a backing vocalist would be the most amazing career ever and I love to write songs so I wouldn't mind writing for other people...but then again i'm not sure how i would feel hearing someone else sing my words :shrugs:

That's awesome...anyway...Back to the original topic - I love to sing. I am constantly singing - my family always tells me to shut the hell up I think my voice sounds a bit like Bono, except of course I don't have the range. When he hits the really high notes it's not happening for me. LOL. I also have quite a bit of vibrato when I sing - I don't know if this is from singing along with Stevie and subconciously imitating her, or if it's natural I would LOVE to sing in a band, but I'm a chicken. I do a little Stevie dancing on the side if I'm by myself. But not TOO much.
