Wasn't Station Man being used in a Volkswagon commercial for a while?

I'm pretty sure it was being used in VW commercial. It may have been some other type of car. It is a great song.

So, are you guys saying that band members (as opposed to songwriters, or session musicians on all the solo albums) get no royalties from their performance on a track when it is played on the radio?

If so, that really sucks a**. John's bass parts, especially, are what really make many of the Mac songs truly standout tracks.

To my knowledge, only the people listed as songwriters get royalities when an FM song is played on the radio. I think it was Mick who said that he and John get their 'bread and butter' mainly from touring.

I used to work in the record industry and I was in a band for about 10 years that released an album on a "major" and I COULD be wrong but I believe non-writers are SUPPOSSED to get what is referred to as a "performance" royalty, like 1/100th of a penny or something miniscule...???

I assume he's employed by somebody else.

I don't think John feels he's 'out there' enough career-wise to justify the cost of management, at this point.

Same thrifty guy who, during the excess of the Tusk tour, chose to forgo his private limo, took the cash, and rode w/ the crew instead! My kinda guy.

Happy Birthday to our John, BTW.

Yep. I always thought it spoke volumes about his character, foregoing the limos, etc.
