this day.
I went to vote this morning and was surprised that there wasnt as many people at the local election office, Deb stayed at home and will vote later today. What was a real surprise was seeing NO Independent candidate listed on the Oklahoma ballot for President but that was alright...I think y'all know who I voted for.I voted for 3 Republicans (All local Oklahoma elections) and 2 Democrats...Hell, I didnt even know that an Independent was running for Senate til last night, But since I never heard of her so she did not get my vote (If Sheila Bilyeu was a candidate such as Carson/Coburn then her face would be posted everywhere.) ![]() I also voted against this ignorant ass state question 711 which adds an admendment to the state constitution that defines "Marriage as only between a man and a woman"...WTF? Are we still living in the "Flintstone era"??? Sorry, But I have to support my gay/lesbian friends here online because I think LOVE is all that matters in the end...I dont judge people on sexual orientation and neither does my wife. Btw, This was the easiest ballot I have had ever!!! Brian j.

It only took me ten minutes to get in and out this morning. Not much of a line at all- I was surprised.
This was my first election in Illinois. They have the stupid punch cards- whatever happened to the election reform promised after 2000? Haaaa. I'm used to voting on a computerized thingy, from my old state- Kansas. I guess I'll take the punch cards, though, if it means getting to vote in a Democratic state for once in my life! |

Oklahoma is using the same type of ballot that has been used since I started to vote for the first time years ago, The ol' fill in/connect the arrow with a black felt ink pen ballot which is "nearly" idiot proof. Brian j.

You're the sweetest, Mr. J.! Thanks for the vote of confidence, and the thoughtful words. ![]() Quote:
And hopefully Oklahoma will work on allowing civil unions to be recognized and afforded most, or all, of the rights given to married couples. As I've said... if the religious-right wants ownership of the word "marriage," they can have it. Words mean nothing to me, just so long as I have equal rights. ![]()

Here is what stupid law 711 looked like on the ballot: ---------------------------------------------------- State Question NO.711 Legislative Referendum NO. 334 This measure adds a new section of law to the Constitution. It adds Section 35 to Article 2. It defines marriage to be between one man and one woman. It prohibits giving the benefits of marriage to people who are not married. It provides that same sex marriages in other states are not valid in this state. It makes issuing a marriage license in violation of this section a misdemeanor. ---------------------------------------------------- Hate to admit I am ashamed to be Oklahoman sometimes...I really feel bad for couples who are married in other states who move to Oklahoma to only find out their marriage "Will not be valid", What utter Bull-malarky!!! I agree with ya Johnny Stew about the word "marriage" (Deb & myself lived together for 2 years before we were married...We werent in a hurry and besides "Shacking up is all WE wanted to do", I know I heard that someWHERE before I just cant place where at, LMAO!!!), they (the Religious right) can shove it up their collective butts until it hits some tonsils! Today I voted for the first time in my life. I am not proud of that fact. But it did feel good to know that I did my part. I won't let my voice go unheard anymore. KERRY 2004!!!!!
