Default Excellent Duran Duran

i donnow, maybe i'm too sentimental, too high, or just too quick to judge, but right now i strongly think that Astronaut is a damn good album!!!
it exceeded my expectations big time. they sound so polished and fresh that you can think it's 1984 again. an album well written, well performed and sharply produced: exactly the way i like them. i'm very pleased with it.
anyone else giving it a spin?

No, but now I want to. It probably is good, they were good before...Thanks, Tommer! But remember, it is possible that Things You Are Listening To Now May Be Crappier Than They Appear
I listened to Mirage (the whole album) for the first time the other night, and i was high, but it didn't make the songs sound better. Well, it might have, but I still thought some were exceptionally crappy....none of them being Miss Nicks songs...

Talking Dd!

I love DD and I love their new song, Sunrise. I just went to Amazon to listen to clips and I really like what I hear. I'll put that on my CD list.

There's a limited edition with fancy packaging and stuff that's pretty nice, and worth the extra couple of bucks for anyone planning on getting this record.

I posted about it awhile ago on the listening thread- I'm not a huge Duranie by any means, but it's an awfully good record. It's really, REALLY solid.

I've never been a hardcore fan but I love their new single.

I was a Durannie - my DD collection was rivaled only by my Stevie/Mac collection of memorabilia, music, tour programs, etc. I say "WAS" because I finally had to sell all my stuff for financial reasons, and now only have a few choice items, like my CD single of "Water Babies" that has the unreleased b-side "Yo Bad Azizi".

I've always liked their more "artsy" songs, and would honestly die a happy man if I never heard "Hungry Like the Wolf" again. And I cannot stand "Sunrise" for some reason. Maybe because I saw the video first (one of their worst, IMHO).

I can't listen to the album online, so would someone tell me how the rest of the album stacks up? I'm hungry for songs along the lines of "Friends of Mine", "New Religion", "The Chauffeur", "Cracks in the Pavement", anything from the Arcadia album, and "Land"/"Palomino"/"Edge of America"...

You have entered Medazzaland...

Thanks for the recommendation. I think I'm going to pick it up.
