Default HEART! This Sunday!

I'm happy to know that I will be seeing HEART live at Chastain Park Amp. in Atlanta this Sunday..I have never seen them live before, and I'm thrilled...I have to pick my tix up at Will Call, hopefully I don't have any problems there---had to do this because I waited so late to order them
For those of you familiar with Chastain this is a "Table show" so hopefully the crowd isnt TOO dead...as they often are at Table shows...Tickets were only $45 each, which was also a plus...

Anyone here seen HEART recently? I love their new CD "Jupiter's Darling"

Chris

I saw them front row center at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Awesome show! I was literally INCHES from both Ann and Nancy throughout the night. I was really freaked out to be standing right in front of Ann for the entire show.

Her voice is still unbelievable... I nearly lost it when they did "Alone" (I won't spoil it by telling you the actual way they arranged the song).

I worship those two!

OMG..You will have an amazing time I just saw them on Monday, and I was 3rd row right in front of Nancy!!! The show was 1000 times better than I could've imagined. I actually got up to the front to give Nancy a rose, and she got down on her knees, took the rose, said thank you, shook my hand and gave me her pick!!! I <3 Heart!

I was looking over at Heart's website, they have a neat fan club...too bad the Mac cant learn from them..

$30 USD pr yr gets you :

1. presale tix
2. Official Heart Mongers Membership ID
3. They did a lottery drawing for 50 lucky fans to attend their tour rehearsal
4. official fan club t shirt
5. Quarterly chats with ann and nancy
6. Chances to win merchandise
7. Access to exclusive online, streaming videos.
8. Never before seen pics
9. Streaming audio of rarities, real rarities, like Ann and Nancy singing in their teen years.
10. and more to come

Ummm...I'd have to disagree with this. I want them to go back to doing it in the rocking power ballad way they used to. I liked the acoustic arrangement for a change, but now it's time to go back to the original way imho. Same goes for Crazy on You too---drop the slow, gospel ending and do it the original way.

The concert was phenomenal...it was at Chastain, which as most of you know is a very laid back place...and this WAS a table show...so the candles and wine bottles were out in full force.

An awesome girl named LENNON opened up...she's like hard rock/piano better than Evanescence stuff...she used be signed to Arista, and had her songs on alt. radio a while back, but quit...she's incredibly hot...I bought her CD at the merch stand and got it signed by her...it was her first night on the Heart tour.

Heart didnt come out until about 9:15...so it was nice and dark, but to my surprise the venue didn't fill up, which is odd for Chastain considering it only seats around 6700 ppl...but I would say, accounting for many of the back rows which were COMPLETELY empty, there were about 4500 ppl there.
Ann said "Welcome" and all after the first song, and said "nice tables."
They both looked great, Ann is really slimming down and is totally energetic and Nancy had a t shirt on that said "KEEP YOUR KIDS OFF PROZAC" lol
They opened with "Bebe le Strange" which was very cool, as I've always loved that particular song. I know some people's voices get strained on tour, but Ann's voice was perfect, she hit EVERY NOTE. Her voice was in better shape than their 2002 DVD, which I thought couldn't get any better.
And according to some of their hardcore fans there, the "Bebe le strange" was a complete surprise, and that hadnt been doing it lately.

I can't remember everything, so I will try to scan over it. I love their new stuff, and have had their new CD "Jupiter's Darling" for a couple of weeks. The new stuff went over EXTREMELY well musically and vocally, as their whole show was very tight and crystal clear sound. You could hear every detail of the songs...and Chastain also has great sound. The crowd was kinda dead for the first 40 mins or so, but after they finished all of their new songs they perked up. They did 2 encores...and of course some did leave during the encores, but not me.
"ALONE" was my favorite song of the night, the arrangement was diff. than the acoustic version they've been doing lately, kinda like a mixture of acoustic and ballad. Her voice was SO LOUD and soooo wild in this song, incredible. I cannot even begin to describe it. "Dog and Butterfly" was another highlight. Ann was all over the stage, running at some points, obviously feeling VERY well, and Nancy was of course doing her usually rocking out with the kicks and all. She did a few songs herself, a couple of new ones and of course "These Dreams."
After the new songs were over Ann said "thanks so much for sitting through the new songs, and being attentive and listening, we really appreciate it...so here's something EVERYBODY knows" --of course this brought big cheers and it was "MAGIC MAN" which got the whole place dancing.
Security was very lax, they were very nice...and told the guy next to me he could use his camera as long as he didnt point it at the stage.
Ann and Nancy both threw picks into the audience at one point. The classics like "Crazy on You" and "Barracuda" went over really well, as did the Led Zepplin covers.

ANN did say "I know all of you in this neck of the woods mostly have all probably registered to vote, right? Well if you haven't at the merchandise tables you can do that tonight. You gotta vote." She said something to the effect of "You cant bitch if you dont vote, and I know you all like to bitch." and she also said "Where are all you young girls tonight? It's especially important for young girls to register and have their voice this year." And thats about all they said about it, and ROCK THE VOTE stickers and registration forms were at the merch stands.

Some standout tunes that were good to hear "Kick it out, " "Straight On," "Love Alive," "Perfect Goodbye," "Make Me," she dedicated "Fallen Ones" to those who came out through the Seattle grunge era and never made it...the ones who died. The two Zep songs were "Black dog," and " Misty Mountain Hop,".

The only thing didnt play that I had hoped for was "Mistral Wind" and "Dreambote Annie."

Great review, glad you had a good time! Cliffdweller and I will be seeing them on Sept. 3rd! WOO-HOO!

They DO have a good fan club, huh? They also do drawings of fan club members for meet and greets, in just about every city. Have you been on Heart's official message board? You should post your review there!

Heart

I'm surprised the die hards were surprised about Bebe Le Strange - they've been doing it the whole tour - well, maybe they didn't want to know the set list ahead of time....

Rich...... and I concur wholeheartedly. If we could hear the schmaltzy, synth-laden version of "Alone" from yesteryear I know I wouldn't be the only person praising it. I think things have taken an acoustic bent due to the whole MTV Unplugged craze.

Oh, my, god, I woulda died. You are soooooo lucky. Isn't it weird how Anne's voice doesn't take wear and tear? It's, like, IMMORTAL! And of course it also sounds that way, to me...I'm glad you had such a great time and that the girls were so cool...I hope they come back to Cali, would try not to miss them this time.

Default So close, and yet so far!

I saw Heart in Minneapolis on August 14 and it was a fantastic show! My posse and I headed to the bathroom after the show, and I happended to run into a girl I had class with this summer..the conversation went like this:

Girl: Hey! I know you from art 410! You're that Fleetwood Mac girl! What are you doing here?

Me: Well, in addition to my Fleetwood Mac obsession, I have one for Heart too! Wasn't the show just fantastic? I love how they played lots of new tunes!

Girl: Guess what? I have a BACKSTAGE PASS for the aftershow!

Me: (my mouth opens about 10 feet and I probably drooled...) Oh my gosh! You are so freakin' lucky!

Girl: (sees my drool and excitement and HANDS ME HER BACKSTAGE PASS!) Here, this means more to you than it does to me!

Me: (about to wet myself!) Shut up! Are you sure?

Girl: Yeah, go for it! Have fun!

So, five minutes later I'm standing in line with the girl's other friends who have passes and trying not to freak out because I forgot to bring my Dreamboat Annie LP...It turns out that someone in the group is friends with Ann Wilson's personal assistant and received tickets to the show and passes. Fifteen minutes pass by and we're still waiting to go backstage. Apparently, whoever issued the passes had to personally come to the door and escourt you to the party. Well, after some phone calls, it was discovered that the assistant to Ann had to stay on the tour bus and watch Ann's kid because he fell asleep..so, unfortunately, this meant that the assistant couldn't come and get us... I was extremely disappointed and upset, to say the least. I then went to look for my friends and explained the bad news. My friend Lorie brought up a good point and said, "Well, at least it wasn't Fleetwood Mac. You'd probably be in jail or detained right now for trying to get backstage anyway." Anyway, I was thrilled for the 15 minutes that I thought I was going to meet them Heart rocks!
