Default Is there any good new music this summer?

I was at Best Buy because I had a gift card to burn and I realized that no really good new records came out this summer. Or at least I'm not aware of any. The only one that looked interesting was "The Scissor Sisters". Has anyone heard this record? And has anyone purchased any good (non- Fleetwood Mac) music lately that I should know about? All I know is that Stevie better march her butt into the studio like right now because I need a new cd to listen to!

Uh, there are lots of good new records out this summer- you just might not like them!

My favorites:

Franz Ferdinand
Modest Mouse- Good News for People Who Love Bad News
Patti Scialfa- 23rd Street Lullaby
Scissor Sisters
Patty Griffin- Impossible Dream
Old 97s- Drag It Up
Prince- Musicology
Graham Colton Band- Drive (generic but very appealing to me for some reason)

And, although not new- an album I've decided everyone under the sun should own:

Grant-Lee Philliips - Mobilize

NONPOINT, BIA! but my musical tastes are probably more dynamic than most here so this may not appeal to you.

Exclamation I've bought alot of new music

this summer but nothing that really stands out as being recommended...

Next purchase will be the Sept.14 release of Megadeth's "The System Will Fail".

i really love Blackfield's self titled, and Beverley Knight's Affirmation, but Kristian Leontiou is officially my new god, and his Some Day Soon is definetly the best album i bought this year.

How is this? I thought about giving it a try even though I wasn't all that impressed with Rumble Doll when I first heard it, I think it was her quavery voice. I'm willing to give it another shot though, she's an amazing songwriter.

Rumble Doll is one of my favorite albums of all time, and personally I prefer it to the new record, but most people like the new one better. It's quality.

I love her voice.

Glad to see I'm not the only PS fan around here!

Though I love it, the new album is still growing on me (in comparison to Rumble Doll). SOOOOOOOOO glad the 14 year wait is over for something new from her, though!

It kinda came and went at the end of last year, but Edie Brickell's Volcano is probably one of the best albums I've heard in the last ten years.

Heart's new album is good, but not great- a little uneven. But I don't care at all because at least it's new material and it's the closest they've been to their original sound in a long, long time.
