I always wanted to ask this. Does anybody know about the meaning of Mac Arthur's Park lyrics?
I mean, where it says: someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'cause it took so long to bake it and I'll never have that recipe again Oh, nooo! Is there a hidden meaning of that? Because talking about a cake left in the rain.. is not so nostalgic or romantic.. it's weird. ![]() |

I dunno....but I love that song.
She might be talking about a relationship ("cake") that took work to build upon, but then it got dampered and couldn't be built up again.......or is that too deep for a disco song? -Curtis

Jimmy Webb is an amazing writer (All I Know, Galveston, Wichita Lineman, The Moon's a Harsh Mistress, If These Walls Could Speak) but I'll be damned if I know what he meant when he wrote those lyrics!
