Technical questions...

1. Is it possible to convert the tracks off a regular cd-say Christine's that I just got-to mp3's so the songs can go on a mp3 player? If so what software do I need to do that?

2. What do they actually do to the old tapes when they remaster them? Am I crazy or am I really hearing things I never heard before in the songs on my remastered Tusk and Rumours albums?especially at the bass end?
