"The Texas 2-step...or Mac does Dallas 2004" review

Well, well, well...I just decided to put down to my thoughts on the Dallas show last night, It was a long & strange trip but worth the admission price at the end of the evening.

I was late leaving my home yesterday due to the fact I tend to forget very important items when I am in a state of anxiousness (ie-Wallet) so after 2 return trips to our home to retrieve the important items we were on our way (The stupid ass mail delivered the "Live In Boston" DVD...Those smart-asses just had to deliver it knowing I won't be able to watch it that night due to a certain concert I was attending.)

First, I have to say a hello to my fellow Ledgies from last night: Wondergirl-Christy ya rock, Did ya molest Lindsey or the Turner? Livia-The Ledgie I recognize the easiest (No, I am not a stalker) because we have met at nearly each of the Mac/Stevie shows I have attended since 2001, Jessica Leigh-Nice to meet you, Glad you had fun but I still want 'em to tour some more even if it drives both of us to the poor house

Now on to the show...Let's FINALLY give props to the Dallas crowd, This was the first Dallas show I have attended where the crowd members seemed to be as charged as the band was (Some were just a tad bit too charged!!!)

Stevie's vocals sounded the strongest for this show compared to the other shows I have attended during the SYW tour...And chances of a weak performance from her were put to rest very quickly, She seemed a bit more animated than usual (ie-Alot of visual hand gestures throughout the night).

The setlist is the same as most of the other 2004 shows, But it was a better show overall to my ears/eyes (Even with the absence of "Silver Springs").

The highlights of the night were the following songs:

"I Know I'm Not Wrong"-It really does translate (And rock...) more in the live environment than I thought it would. I was very impressed...

"Red Rover"-The whole red lighting, the video screen showing the words "Red Rover" inside a black circle (ala an ol B&W film) and the band (Mick playing on the box was hilarious) shined on this one...I think Wondergirl probably lost it on this one

"Sara"-Very interesting footage showed on the screen as Stevie sang the line "I think I had met my match", Right before this line the screen showed Stevie singing and as she started this line to camera's panned quickly to Lindsey and then back to Stevie...Gee, That was just a bit too obvious wasn't it? I enjoyed the Tusk era footage too...But was it supposed to be in-sync with the live version being played on stage?

"Come"-Holy s--t, Lindsey was nearly shredding on tonight's performance, He had the Smirnoff Center in his hands as he ripped through the SYW track that calls for certain Ledgies to be his "Come" girl for the night (I don't believe he picked a "Come" girl last night, But with wondergirl up at stage side she should've been the one...)

"Beautiful Child"-Stevie's voice sounded very strong and rested...No straining to reach the higher notes (Same goes for "Landslide", her vocals were right on...Livia mentioned after the show she thought that was the best version of "Landslide" she has heard, I have to agree) and not the slightest bit of any vocal problems that have bothered her in past shows on the 2004 tour.

"Stand Back"-Lindsey was doing a rocking back-and-forth dance before "Stand Back" started. He looked like he was having a "episode" of some type

Stevie looked hella Sexy in the new gold sparkled top she wore and she did her usual spins (Did I mention her new top pushed up her Cleavage???...As I said before, Damnnn. Hey I'm a male, What did ya expect me to do, Turn away and cover my eyes???). For the record, unlike the version of "Stand Back" on the audio disc of "Live In Boston" the solo by Neale Heywood was way upfront in the mix and not buried.

"World Turning"-For some reason the version of "world Turning" was rocking more than usual, I think it was due to Mick who was more antimated than his usual self (I still couldn't understand a word the man said except for "Hanky Panky")...His vest solo was to be expected but last night's performance was even more rockin' than I can recall, So much that a drunken yet beautiful female fan decided I would be her new "toy" during this part of Mick's solo...Can you say the word "Molest"?

I hope wondergirl, Livia and the other Ledgies who also attended the show, can add to this review...Just in case I left out an important item, Wouldn't be the first time

ps-After the show as I waited for Debbie to pick me up (I drove over to the Smirnoff to only be surprised that parking cost $12!!! I said BS to that and drove back to the hotel and had Deb drop me off at the show.) I headed to the backstage area of the Smirnoff. I saw John McVie leave in a limo and about 10-20 minutes later Brett, Neale & Taku leave in a white van (They waved at the faithful who were standing near the exit)

As I waited I talked to a "person" who told me about a possible deal (With a joint venture of his company and with Rick Turner & Lindsey Buckingham) to manufacture the Turner Model 1 as a more affordable guitar Lindsey signature model in the near future (He mentioned once the legal matters/paper work is finished there should be a green light to move forward in the manufacturing.) If he was on the level (I believe he is telling the truth because he had creditials that showed that he works as a "luthier" for small guitar company and some of the information he provided would not be something a casual fan would know of for the deals it takes to make a signature model guitar for a famous guitarist) I know of alot of fans who would appreciate this news.

Wow, sounds like a great show! I'm glad Stevie is sounding better than ever and that you and all our other fellow Ledgies had a fabulous time!

And how cool would it be to a Lindsey signature guitar?!

Dallas last night was the best of the three SYW tour shows I have seen in person (Even though the OKC crowd last summer was a bit more rockin' than Dallas was last night, The band's energy was not on the same page...They were very rested and ready to rock last night, And rock they did!)

Well, it WAS the best version of Landslide until tonight's show in Houston. We had her stop right before the finish because we were singing along. She was so thrilled. She goes "And you can sing!" Then she led us all in closing the song. Afterward, she was beaming and cried "That was just terrific!" Set the tone for the whole rest of the show. Absolutely phenomenal!! Good meeting you, Livia.

He DID have a Come girl...not I, but a blonde lady in the front of him. She did the hand gestures right back to him!! HEE!!

I'll talk about RR in my review....I'm sure it's obvious what it did to me. LOL

Sounds like we ALL got molested at the shows. Read my Houston review for my molestation story. It's a doozy.

Holy SHIZ about the guitars!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seteca and Madformac are gonna DIE when they read this!!

Good meeting you too! And yep, I thought Dallas was the best Landslide, until Houston. "I want to dedicate this to you, Houston, Texas - because every time we come here, we have a rockin' good time!" Aaah, precious moments....

reliving the moments thanks to the videos I just received (The Champaign show looks and sounds great...Even moreso than the Madison show, "Sara" sounds unreal on the Champaign video)

From the boots I heard and the Mansfield show, I wasn't impressed with Sara, so that's good news!
