Well, it's amazing that I was able to attend this show from bunch of reasons from the show being rescheduled, travel plans being changed due to a day of mourning of Ronald Reagan, my lovely asthma acting up, etc. Well, anyway I hooked with a new fan friend named Alex. He is such a sweetheart and without him my trip would have been a disaster.
I arrive in Philadelphia which seems like a nice city from what I saw of it. I hope to go back sometime soon. Alex meets me and we head for the hotel to see if we could see any band members. We wait till about 3PM and we see John and then Mick. Alex has a few words with them and then we wait. Alex wants me to sit close to the elevator so when Lindsey comes down he will see me and stop. Alex knows that Lindsey will stop for me when he sees me but I decline and sit away from LB's view. After about a half hour Lindsey comes down and makes a beeline for the door. Alex gets up and I follow kind of behind him. LB is out the door and Alex approaches him. Lindsey is very receptive of Alex. I was kind of just standing there because I did not want to bother LB. Alex then says to Lindsey " you know Pattie" . LB looks at me and replies " yes I know Pattie." I had met Lindsey previously and finally got to introduce myself. Yea! Alex had a Mick Fleetwood wine bottle that he had John and Mick just sign earlier. He had Lindsey sign it. I had a picture of LB from the Mansfield show that he autographed for me. LB was in a hurry to get to the venue but it was nice of him to stop for us. Alex wanted a photo with LB so I used his camera to take the photo. You cannot preview the photo that you are about to take on the back of the digital camera so I asked Alex how to make it show up. Well, Mr. B. decides to be a smart@$$ and says to me ' yeah, hey now how do you work that thing?" I did not say anything. I just took the photos. I did not say too much to LB because I was having difficultly breathing and when I started to talk sometimes I would cough. The last thing that I wanted was to cough in anyone's face never mind a Mac member. At some point Alex asked LB if he could be his "Come Girl". LOL I had to put my hand over my face for that one but it was funny! LB was very cool and responded that he needed to be on his side not SN's. where he usually hangs out. Alex was thrilled. After a few distractions we head for Hershey. Let me say that road signs in PA are awful. Alex and I even saw a guy that looked like he was selling chicken pot pies or something on the street. It was hysterical. We finally get on the right highway and head for chocolate city! I was getting antsy because I wanted to go shopping for some chocolate and stuff. We get to Hershey in good time and I make a beeline for the Chocolate World store. Well, I was just like a kid in a candy store. LOL I love chocolate! I got Death by Chocolate Fudge some special edition candy bars and a few other non candy items. Alex was such a doll he took my stuff to the car while I proceeded to the gate. I hid my tiny camera in the Altoids tin. I got my hand bingo marked as I walked in and I think I got it all over me in about 5 seconds. Alex and I head for our front row seat and are given bracelets to indicate that we are front row patrons. Security was militant at first and made us stand in front of our seat until the show started. Also only the front row was allowed up to the stage. The stage was really high. This was the first time that I wish that I was not in front row. I was pacing back and forth and Alex kept going outside to smoke. It seemed like forever before the show started. I met up with a bunch of people in passing but I really did not feel too great so I kind of kept to myself. Then finally I hear the crickets and I yell for Alex to come over near me so he could be in front of Lindsey as promised. LOL Lindsey comes out and sees Alex and myself and basically the whole front row which was full of repeat offenders. LB got a kick out of it and was laughing and pointing at people. He is just too cool! Stevie looked great and she was smiling a lot. She is just one sexy mama! Unfortunately I could not see her too great because of the high stage. She was sporting some cleavage that night too. Sometime during the beginning of the show the first 5 rows were let up to the stage. I was really happy about that because it blocks little old me from security's view. That meant out came my Altoids tin and I opened it up to take out my little Optio. I love doing that. I tried a new function on my camera. It worked pretty good too. The crowd was really odd. I was in front of LB and I blink and someone just materialized in front of me. They had a camera so I figured that they were going to snap a few and go. Nope guess again. They stayed and drunk danced with their arms up and that was making it hard for me to take any photos. I was NOT HAPPY! Alex and I somehow doe- se -doed in front of this person. Thank God! I was starting to wonder if I was at a Grateful Dead show or something they way the crowd was acting. Now I have never been to a Dead show and I do not mean any disrespect of the band or the fans. I just did not seem like a Mac show accept for us normal die hard first few rows. Many melees were breaking out around me. They were many belligerent people at this show. I really was getting afraid that a big brawl was going to break out and I would be in the middle of it. That is not a good feeling. Ok well lets just get to the highlights. Lindsey starts to sing "Come" and sure enough he points to Alex! I was so happy for him. I knew Lindsey would keep his word. Alex was thrilled to say the least! A few songs sounded a bit different to me. Say You Will was in another key. I really got short changed on this show. I did not see The Tusk dance, LB's guitar love before Stand Back, Stevie's twirls, Landslide interaction or really any interaction between band members. I was focused on taking photos and I only had a 128MB card in my camera which is not going to last me all night. I had to go and delete the duds so I still had room. LB was watching me and I am sure he was thinking that I did not even know how to work my own camera. He caught me a few times taking his picture and gave me a look like 'what are you doing?" I put the camera down. LOL LB was interacting with me a lot. He was mouthing something to me that began with a "P". I can't believe that it took me until after the show like I mean the day after the show to realize he was saying' Pattie" DUH! I am such a dope. Hey I am very shy and sometimes my brain does not work then and I was also lacking oxygen. Well, anyway when I get shy LB usually stops interaction but he would not that night. I got some nice photos of Lindsey, OK ones of Stevie and a few photos of Mick and thats about it. I could not see the bows or really anything else. I did post some photos on the Ledge because I know how too. After the show Alex and I head to Philadelphia and get lost. I discovered what a WAWA is and I have a hoagie at 2AM in the morning. We also spotted an Amish horse wagon. It was just too funny. We finally find Philly and I check into my hotel. I turn on the TV and just as I was thinking about it I catch a rerun of the show Providence. It never fails everwhere I go I always catch this show. Finally I rest up for my evening flight back home to Providence. Now here I am with my photos and fudge! Pattie |

Thanks Pattie for the wonderful review. One more surreal moment was seeing Paul Simon with Mick Fleetwood. Too funny. I hope that Taku posts his picture of this.

That was a really enjoyable read, thanks Pattie. Alex is the Ledge's own 'GreatDarkWing', right?
That smarmy Mr B! Hope your asthma is under control now and didn't ruin the experience.

Alex is the realllly tall guy that handed the gift to Cory before the show, correct? I am trying to picture him asking Lindsey if he could be his Come girl...I probably would have fallen over laughing on the spot.

Yes, that was me. I just wrote out a thank you card for the diaries and for giving me the set list in Hartford. Still trying to figure out how to post these damn pictures. I was wearing a pink shirt, if that helps.

Thanks for the review, Pattie - That sounds like Philly - Wawas and bad road signs.
I hope the asthma has eased and you enjoyed the hoagie. - Jake
