Live In Boston
Well I picked up the "Live In Boston" package today. All in all, the production is great (and there is a lot of production).
All of the vocals are smooth. The filming is only adequate and the wide-screen format is morphed. It must have been recorded specifically for HDTV (which I have and can't wait to see it on TV/PBS). I had to set my TV format for standard viewing even though I have a 65" widescreen HDTV and killer surround sound system. My only thought is that the format couldn't transfer to DVD - I'm just guessing. THANK GOD THERE WAS A 5.1 Surrouns sound OPTION.... I had read in an earlier post that it would only be release in 2.0. I'm glad at least the sound is very good, but the video and format, again, disappointing. The footage used was mostly from the actual show, though the close-ups (in most of Stevie's, you can see her sweat glands through her pours) were from the first nights taping and I was able to catch myself playing Lindseys guitar, so there are some shots of the audience from the previous night as well. I think it's great to have the whole show and again, the performance was great, but I'm not blown away. Stevie's clothing and hair and energy are much better this leg of the tour. I almost wish they would have waited till now to record a show. But they actually made Gypsy sound and look great and she was wearing boots! (not the reeboks visible in most of the show). I look forward to hearing what the rest of you have to say! Peace, Bob |
