Taku also posted (anonymously) to the Fleetwood Mac Usenet group. I argued with him (without knowing it) about Mick's ability to keep time.

I think it's great that somebody in that traveling circus knows how to use the Internet!

David what was your side of the arguement. I feel that Mick drags the song sometimes. Interested to know if I'm "all wet".

Boy, that's interesting. Intuitively, I got the sense when I saw the Behind the Mask concert, that something was a little off. It was probably Mick either speeding up or slowing down the tempo. At the time, I merely thought the beat was off occasionally.

Is that new to you all? Mick has done this his entire life as a drummer. He "floats, but still is a driving force. He just can't do it in another way. You even can hear it very clearly on "bleed to love her". Even in the studio he does that. I even think that's the exact reason why Lindsey loves him. He's a "feeler", not a machine.

He also has a disorder which renders him unable to play the same exact thing twice.....

Not new to me at all, and LB hasn't always loved MF's drumming. Especially early on. LB even took drums on some tusk songs. I have to side with Mick however, after listening to LB's solo work I'll take Mick anyday.

The fact that lindsey played drums on some Tusk-songs has really NOTHING to do with his supposed lack of love for Mick as a drummer. We are not talking about Mick's behaviour as a bandmate though: I can understand that Lindsey wanted to be a zillion lightyears apart from Mick the lunatic in some times of their bandlife together. And that last remark about Lindsey's totally brilliant solowork: I agree to certain extend. I would pick Mick anyday, too. At last, on Gift Of Screws, Lindsey DID use Mick on his solostuff. But by then, the man was back on earth again using his sensibility as a musician again.

I can't think of ONE quote from Lindsey where he questions Mick's musicianship. I really think that Lindsey has always loved Micks drumwork. I remember him saying Mick's drumtake on WMYTYTO was the best thing he'd ever recorded. And as I recall, that was from the Tuskalbum.
