Does anyone who's been to a show at Hershey stadium know if they enforce the "no cameras allowed" policy? Is it worth me taking my camera, or not? I thought about getting a disposable, but I'm not exactly in the first row (row 24), so I'd like to use the zoom on my digital one.
Thanks, Carol |

Just about every place I've ever been to see a show enforces the "No camera" policy up until you GET inside with it. once the lights are down, it seems that the security guys dont give a rats ass. I'm still "careful" about it. I look before I snap the shots, but I've never seen anyone get their camera taken away either. All you have to do is get it in the place.
If you are on 24th row, your pics will suck without a zoom. I was on row 21 last year for the first show I saw, which I felt I was pretty close, but the pics turned out like I was on 40th row or something.

The venues don't decide the camera policy, the band does.

This is not totally true, many arenas have a general "no cameras" rule for all concerts. Of course, I'm sure no band is thrilled with people taking their photos, esp. if the photog. is going to try to make $ off their image... Anyway, I have gotten my camera in to every show I attended on this tour by stashing it at the bottom of a medium-size purse. Security always does a bag check, but it's not at all thorough, they just poke around a bit. I really think they're looking more for drugs, alcohol, or weapons than cameras. Just put a bunch of crap on top of it (makeup, hairbrush, wallet, etc.) Pads are good too since most security won't touch 'em, esp. males Paula |

Actually, at one of the concerts I attended, I had to go to the store and BUY the tampon box for my friend. I felt like I was buying my first box of rubbers. I was like making sure no one was at the counter LOL The things we do for the Mac ![]() |

Well they dont exactly strip search you...! haha....I am pretty thin, so I wear baggier-than-normal jeans and just stick the diposable in the small of my back and my boxer shorts just hold it in place till I get inside. Sorry for the visual....! ha

At the Philly concert back in September, I stuck my camera inside of my makeup bag. They didn't really think to look inside of it, so that worked out pretty well. I also have another trick... Whenever I saw Blondie in Cleveland last week, I brought my disposable camera AND my digital camera. I put the disposable one in the front pocket, and I put the digicam in the back compartment of my purse so nobody could see it. The reason why I brought both of them was because if one was taken, I had a spare *lol*. You could luck out like I did and they won't even check your purse.
Hope that helps .-Kate Last edited by xdreamsunwindx; 05-13-2004 at 07:44 PM.. |

A couple questions:
No matter what, even if they catch you trying to sneak a camera in, you can not get kicked out of the arena right? It would be my luck to try and sneak a camera in my jacket and have them tell me I couldn't go into the arena. Sorry, I know I am paranoid! Secondly, for us guys, where do we put cameras? I don't exactly carry around a purse and I don't exactly have pads lying around (and even if I did, it would raise a few eyebrows when they were checking my bag).

Funny story time! I was at CVS last week because I had coupons that I had to use (you know the ones they send to you in the mail for free stuff?) and went down the aisle with the rubbers. This big burly dude saw me coming, so he shifted his interest to the rubbers for "big" men. He made like he was going to purchase them, but when I got into the next aisle and looked over to him, he switched the boxes and got the regular size. I felt like telling him not to worry, it isn't the size of the ship that o****s, it's the motion of the ocean.Anyways, when I went to the Boston show, I snuck my camera in by hiding it in a box of glasses wipes that I was carrying. I slipped the box into the bag of tour junkt hat I bought and I waltzed right in.

Truly, I would have paid money to see you at the checkout with a box of tampons and a spray bottle of Frebreeze. A word of caution, I have seen people booted for cameras (or at least temporarily pulled out), but not often, typically still taking pictures after they were told once to stop. In Champaign cameras were allowed just no video or recording devices. In Madison they weren't even letting people use cell phones (security nazi). ![]()
