It was the one you were throwing in my face to demonstrate the dismal sales of Stevie TISL, Enchanted, and SA tours and record sales

(P.S. for the faint of heart - -I am joking with Dissention here )

He did say in a couple interview that he liked it because he had something to do with his sound, but he never pretended to be "completely responsible" for it. I think we ALL would have remembered such an outrageous statement.

Isn't it amazing that as a band, the Rumours lineup has actually released a fairly small amount of work? My other favorite band, Cracker, in comparison, has released almost twice as much material and the band only formed in 1990.

AND - Stevie actually has quite a body . . . of work that is. But, yes, you would think they would have more.

Oh lord. I meant that he implied he was the one who was most responsible for the sound of the song on the album.

If he had said he was "completely responsible" for TD, half of these people would **** where they sit and break their keyboards in anger. God forbid if Lindsey gets some credit for Stevie's songs.

Fair enough. I'm merely pointing out that I don't think it's unreasonable for someone to have pondered what Gaius suggested either.

Clearly, we don't really know the full answer.

You don't knock Stevie for bringing her piano demos to Lindsey. However, you often knock the demos themselves because they are so repetitive, simplistic, etc. This implies that Stevie is unable to edit herself. By bringing Lindsey a near-complete track, she has obviously done so. Yet, instead of commending this, we treat is as something to criticize.

Nor was I necessarily saying that she SHOULDN'T bring him near-finished product. I was merely speculating on whether it inhibits his creativity. Is that such a sin? If speculation were outlawed on these boards, a lot of people around here, including you, would have very little to say.

Obviously you're speculating - speculating that once again Stevie is bringing Lindsey down. Of course people will react negatively to that. This surprises you?

P.S. Sorry for repeating Johnny Stew's point, by the way. Hadn't read that far yet.

Lindsey should take credit for his work on Thrown Down. He really took the song to another level. Anyone who listens to the demo must acknowledge that.

But I don't remember Lindsey even implying that he was mostly responsible, just stating that he had contributed a lot to it. There's a difference. I'm sure if he did you will be able to find it, though, so I'm not precluding the possibility that I've forgotten. However, I think you're just remembering it a little wrong, that's all.

2. Mick says that during that final argument over the album, there was something that happened that threatened to make their touring schedule far shorter than originally planned.

3. Lindsey specifically sites his concern that Stevie, not Mick or John, might pull out of the tour after 40 dates as a reason to not put out the double album.

If one begins speculating upon those three things, it's not a big leap to consider what Gaius mentioned as a possibility. Obviously, we can't know for sure because we don't get to see the final argument and Lindsey's and Mick's comments seem sort of pointedly vague and ambiguous, and there is no comment from Stevie about the topic at all, which some may find a little odd. So it's just up for guesses and speculation, like so much else.
My own speculation: Steive was cool with the double album, but another fight came up. Could've been the running order, although it mystifies me why that would be such a big fat hairy deal. It was that fight, unrelated to the double album, that made Lindsey wonder if perhaps Stevie might bail (whether she overtly threatened to or not). The reason I don't think Stevie's' threat was about the double album was that she was fine with it in the documentary once the costs were brought down, and I don't see why she would lie. On the other hand, the really bad fight was left out. And the really bad fight, IMO, was the one that changed everything. I think cutting down the album was a consequence of the fight, but not the actual point of contention in it.
