Hm. In spite of being a Stevie girl, I found my decision hinged on Lindsey's Hair.

Do I go with "Gypsy" and touch his beautiful 1982 curls, or do I go with something from *Tango In The Night* and investigate the bizarre conical hair he had then?

Eventually I had to pick "Little Lies." Men with beautiful curls may come and go, but horses are forever.

I WAS there! Well, not literally on stage, but I was in the audience!! They filmed it in Houston, right after the concert.

I'd have to go for the night club in Gypsy. I just love that whole era anyway.

I haven't seen the Gypsy video the Enchanted Forest that you are all on about but it sounds fabulous!

I would have to choose the Edge of Seventeen, Red Rocks where she meets and greets the audience at the end, she looks like she is really having so much fun there, and the venue is just awesome

I actually know a place in Austin that is very similar to the cliff/enchanted forest scene in Gypsy, especially during the late late Fall when the leaves finally change colors (and last that way for a whopping 3 days...). The cliff even faces North, so the sun sets perfectly in the fantasy scene. (I know there's not really a sunset in the video, it just adds to the whole thing.)

I'd pick Rooms on Fire, though. I'd love to be the guy dancing with Stevie on the surface of the pool water. OR, sitting on the couch in the living room in front of a roaring fire, watching her play with the tassels on that awesome floor lamp for hours on end.

A friend of mine actually had a "stalker-like" video some guys had shot where they videotaped themselves driving up the road to the house (or "castle", as Stevie calls it) where she shot the video and recorded the Mirror album. It was the same road that her lover in the video drives up as she's standing on the balcony. After watching it, all I could say was, "Man, did the art director and cinematographer make that dump look like a palace or what???" The house and grounds themselves were nice enough, but the surrounding neighborhood was NOT. Potholes in the road, poorly kept houses and yards along the way, and an endless procession of those small trash dumpsters all the way up, right on the side of the road.

It's great exercise Jake--it works your arms, your thighs, calves, butt--everything. But it will also put a hurting on you like you've never had in your life. I haven't ridden now in several years--I've got pretty bad arthritis and it's just too jarring for my joints/bones. I really miss it. (And no, while it may sound like I'm 100, I'm actually still in my thirties--I was diagnosed with arthritis at the age of 29.)

And after giving it some more thought, I'd be okay with the Hold Me video too, despite the desert scenes--it's based on the art of Rene Magritte--my favorite artist. I remember reading though that a sand storm came up while they were shooting that video and they ended up having to shoot some of the scenes in the studio. I think it was maybe Christine's part? It's been too long for me to remember all the details, but that was such a cool video.

Livia, I can't remember the name of the park/springs, but they're the ones that are a few miles northwest of the 2222/Loop 360 intersection, about halfway between the intersection and the Arboretum area. (The springs END at the intersection of 2222 & Loop 360, where there's a park & a little dam. Any idea what I'm talking about?)

Anyway, there are all sorts of hiking trails surrounding the beginning of the springs, where there is a quite large waterfall & a couple of 10-ft deep natural swimming pools. If you take the trails from the beginning of the springs, you wind up on top of the ridge, overlooking the waterfall.

On top of the ridge, there are several man-made trails (not officially marked) that head basically due west. My friend Kevin & I found the cliff area after a mile or so...

Sorry I can't be more specific, but I haven't lived in Austin for more than 3 years, and describing directions on a hiking trail is a little more difficult than I had imagined when I started typing this reply. Especially Austin trails, where there really aren't any landmarks. "You know -- you take a right at the big limestone rock..."

If you decide to be adventurous and go looking, keep a lookout for rattlesnakes. We saw several off the main trail. Plus, some of this area is a nature preserve for some type of endangered Hill Country bird. It was pretty clearly marked, but I still felt a little guilty for straying off the main trail (but in the end, glad I did...)

Barton Springs? Although that's more south than north. The Arboretum is more north Austin. There's another natural spring/pool that I can't remember the name of that might be the one you're talking about, help me out here Livia....
