That was hysterical.

I really like the William Shatner of late, with the exception of those Priceline commercials. He had me rolling in that Sandra Bullock flick from a few years ago, "Miss Congeniality."

I liked the story last night. But good lord, they have to give her something better to do. Years ago they used to show her personal life and relationships. They do none of that now. Remember the episode where Elleanor called Lindsay a "pissy little bitch" and Lindsay jumpe dover the table and attacked her, eventually leading to the whole firm wrestling in the conference room? That show was a riot. My favorite scene was when Elleanor was trying to hail a cab and one wouldn't stop so she just ran into the street in front of a cab and yelled "Stop!"

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - William Shatner's guest-starring turn on "The Practice" may turn into something more permanent.
The veteran actor and former "Star Trek" star is likely to join James Spader in the spinoff -- or as ABC likes to call it, "evolution" -- of "The Practice" next season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Spader confirmed earlier this week that he'll star in the new show.

Shatner began a "Practice" guest arc last week, playing Denny Crane, a high-powered partner at the law firm Alan Shore (Spader) hires in a wrongful-termination suit against Young, Frutt & Berluti. He's scheduled to appear on several more episodes through the end of the season.

Lake Bell ("Miss Match") and English actress Fay Masterson ("Johnson County War") are also set to join the spinoff, playing a law student and an attorney who work at Crane's firm. Current "Practice" regular Rhona Mitra is also in talks for the new show.
Shatner's last regular TV role was in the mid-'90s sci-fi series "Tek War." In addition to "Star Trek," he starred in the 1980s cop show "T.J. Hooker." Recent movie credits include "Miss Congeniality," "Osmosis Jones" and "Free Enterprise," in which he goofed on his "Trek" role.

De Mornay Gets 'Practice' For New Kelley Drama

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Rebecca De Mornay has signed on for a four-episode story arc on ABC's "The Practice." The part will then have the potential to expand into a regular gig when "The Practice" evolves into a new drama next season.
As fans of the legal drama know, new attorney Alan Shore (James Spader) is heading for a showdown against the attorneys of Young, Frutt & Berluti over his recent termination. He has enlisted the help of the firm Crane, Poole & Schmidt, including senior partner Danny Crane (William Shatner).

De Mornay will play another attorney at the new firm. After the conclusion of this season of "The Practice," Shore and Tara Eilson (Rhona Mitra) are expected to join Crane, Poole & Schmidt. Shatner is expected to be involved in the new David E. Kelley offering, and De Mornay will have the option to continue as a regular.


According to The Hollywoord Reporter, Fay Masterson was originally cast in the De Mornay part.
The "Risky Business" star's recent work includes the feature "Identity" and the telefilms "Salem Witch Trials" and "Stephen King's The Shining." She has also done guest stints on "ER" and "Boomtown." Last fall, the actress starred in the FOX pilot "No Place Like Home."

Meanwhile, NBC's "ER" is adding a sure-to-be-popular new intern in the form of "Once & Again" co-star Shane West. The "A Walk to Remember" star is set to don the scrubs as the medical drama returns for its 11th season next fall.

Over on The WB, the remake of "Dark Shadows" has found its Barnabas Collins. The 200-year-old vampire will be played by Scottish thespian Alec Newman. A veteran of The WB's soon-to-depart vampire drama "Angel" (he played Drogyn in the episode "A Hole in the World"), Newman's other credits include the recent miniseries adaptations of "Dune" and "Children of Dune."

Annie Potts ("Designing Women) will co-star in ABC's untitled comedy pilot about a father (William Devane) and son (Tom Everett Scott) who reconnect after being fathers at the same time. Potts will play Devane's ex-wife and Scott's mother. Also at ABC, Craig Ferguson ("The Drew Carey Show") will appear in the Gina Gershon comedy "Hot Mom."

Also, TV Guide reports that Betty White will play the mistrress of Cloris Leachman's husband on Malcolm in the Middle. The Malcolm people said they cast Betty because she's "hot."
